Chiefs are planning to retain Romeo Crennel and remove interim tag

Chiefs are planning to retain Romeo Crennel and remove interim tag from his title. Move would be popular in the locker room.

I don't really get this. What move would have shown they aren't treading water?

I'm all for no RAC as HC but I don't see many other options.

Jeff Fisher? No thanks.

If you can't get 2 inches, you don't deserve to win. Rather put the game in the hands of my offense there than trust a kicker with a 47-48 yarder.
They were on the wrong side of the field. It was punt or try on fourth. N.O. Took over in fg range already in ot.

I'd love to sit here and discuss this all day, but I need to write and exam for my Psychology classes.

I'll check back in later if possible. Can't believe I hadn't been here in a week. Feels weird.

Draft, draft, draft, draft. If Orton keeps the seat warm, cool. If Orton is considered the answer, they all need to **** their mothers.

I'm guessing that Crennel thinks Cassel is a piece of garbage as a QB, given his comments about wanting to bring Orton back. Will Crennel roll over on that one and accept Cassel?

Go for another assistant coach. Joe Philbin. Make a move at QB.

This feels like when we hired Gunther after Marty left.

You're right about the field position. I stand corrected.

Doesn't change my view, however.

Punt to NO, and you lose.

Again, if we were to trade up and draft a qb this year, I'm fine with this move.

You have to have some faith in your d. Imo.

But I can agree it took brass balls to make that call.

I was actually going to say I don't think you could hire a Vermeil-type today anyway... because they've completely neutered the practice rules. You can't work guys into the ground perfecting things. Then I stumbled across this article:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp1...ractice-limits

Quote:
Former St. Louis coach Dick Vermeil says his Rams would not have won the Super Bowl back in 1999 under the new, limited practice rules of the NFL.

Vermeil, who visited the Rams on Thursday, was famous for his tough training camps.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the mandatory veteran reporting date is no earlier than 15 days before the first preseason game. The first day is limited to physicals and meetings, and the second and third day workouts have no pads or contact. Teams can have only one padded practice per day in camp.

"I don't like the restrictions they gave to practice time," Vermeil said of the new rules. "It's going to be hard to get better. The fortunate thing is everybody is operating within the same rules. You just have to do a better job within them. I think it's going to hurt the quarterbacks, especially the young ones. It's going to hurt the medium player, the average guy. How does he get better and hang on the roster next year? How are young kids coming up going to make it when you don't give them any reps?"
I guess that'll be one thing in Romeo's favor... if he's soft in practices everyone else will be too. Wonder if this had a large effect on all the terrible sloppy football we've seen this year.

I get my information on Crennel from Browns fans. They know what he's all about.

He's a fat, calm version of Herm.

Just hiring an upcoming assistant makes no sense.

If Romeo can keep the guys playing with the intensity they did the last three and be more disciplined, I'm fine iwht it.

Bring in your up and comer to be the OC. Draft a shiny new qb and lets do this shit.

I don't see hiring Crennel as any guarantee that Cassel won't be back.

I do see the possibility that the Chiefs will re-sign Orton and bring him in to compete, and that's about as exciting as going to your high school prom with your sister and cousin.

You are ****ed, but no chance you're getting laid.

I just don't see this working out at all. I'd bet this team ends up lacking discipline and makes a number of stupid, preventable mistakes as a result of Crennel's laissez-faire approach.
