Does anyone else think Zobrist could have taken 3rd pretty easily on that double to lead off the 8th? Obviously it's a whole different inning if he does.

Is the World Series going to turn into Shinguard-Gate?

A mini-controversy appears to be brewing after Fox cameras caught Royals catcher Salvador Perez with some kind of brown substance on his shinguards.

Perez didn’t speak to reporters after the game and manager Ned Yost correctly pointed out that there is nothing wrong with the catcher — or any position player — having the substance, believed to be pine tar, there.

“It’s not illegal,” Yost said. “I don’t know what it was. It was brown. It’s not illegal for a catcher to have it on his shinguard. It’s illegal for a pitcher.”

ESPN analyst and Red Sox great Curt Schilling had an interesting take.

Mets captain David Wright laughed when asked about it, and said he didn’t have any thoughts on the mystery substance. But this probably is not the last we hear about Perez’s shinguards in this series.

Yes, @cam_maron, have heard the same from a number of current catchers -- that they'll put some pine tar on their shinguards.

NY media/fans whining about nothing. Shocker.

Easily. I have no idea why he stopped at second. Our base running has been atrocious in the postseason.

Remember Rios getting tagged out after his little league pop up slide took him off the base?

How about the fact that we don't even try to steal bases in important situations and instead give away outs by having our #3 hitter try to sacrifice?

We've had two really nice plays going first to home. Once, the CF fell down on his ass, and the other time the RF threw to the wrong base. We're supposed to be a great small ball team. By our standards, we've been awful.
