He was here at Hazelden the last week of June.

It is a treatment facility. Decided he needed a checkup.

July 11: Robin Williams maintains his sobriety with ongoing 12-step treatment in Minnesota
Article by: Associated Press Updated: August 11, 2014 - 7:20 PM

LOS ANGELES — Robin Williams is reconnecting with the 12-step program during a brief stay at a Minnesota facility.

A spokeswoman for the 62-year-old actor-comedian says Williams planned the visit as a respite to recharge after more than 18 straight months of work.

Publicist Mara Buxbaum said Williams is "taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud."

Williams has been open about the challenges of maintaining sobriety. He sought treatment in 2006 when he relapsed and returned to drinking after 20 years.

Williams stars in the CBS series "The Crazy Ones" and the film "The Angriest Man in Brooklyn," which was released in May. He has several other projects in the works, including another installment of "Night at the Museum."

Always tried to catch him when he appeared on one of the late night talk shows. His off the cuff humor was so unreal. I couldn't ever imagine how his brain could come up with the stuff he said and did. Unreal on the spot comedy

Why is this one hitting me so hard? Celebs I like die all the time, sadly, but at least initially, this one is hitting me almost as hard as when DT died.
I think it's because of the feeling of permanence Williams had in my life. As a kid, there were only two shows; Dukes of Hazzard, which was about a car, and Mork and Mindy, which was about Robin Williams FAR more than it was about an alien and his girlfriend. I, nearly literally, came into consciousness as a human laughing at Mork. I wore those silly suspenders every time my mom would allow. I dreamt of sitting on a goalpost.
Williams then went on to be in a bunch of really great movies. he was always right around the corner with something. He did some crap work, and some brilliant work. Dead Poets, Doubtfire, Garp, and Vietnam, and my favorite, Good Will Hunting. Toys, which was odd. Hook, which I haven't seen. Aladdin, which has special meaning to my wife and I. He was just always there. Always just stamped into the fabric of the world I live in. I'll never forget my dad making me watch his bit about golf and listening to my dad laugh like crazy through the whole thing.
It's always a trite thing to say about celebrity deaths, but feels so true... I felt like I knew him.
Of course I didnt. Maybe no one did.

I'm just very sad.

I totally agree, this hit me pretty hard. He seemed like a good soul.

That said - Go watch Hook when you're over it. Seriously. Who hasn't seen Hook?
