I bought a safety razor a couple of months ago. I also got a badger brush and shaving soap. My face is very sensitive and the cartridge razors really started taking their toll on it this past year. Portions of my face rely started getting chewed up. I started doing some research and found that dermatologists do not recommend the multi blade platform because it pulls the hair from below the surface which causes irritation. So I have gone the single blade route and am cutting out any cream or soap that has alcohol in it. I also added a pre-shave oil, at least until I get my face healed up, and then I'll try ditching that.

After I get paid this week I'm moving up to a "shavette" disposable blade straight edge. Then eventually a regular straight edge when I can afford it.

I have had both and I like Dollar's heavier razor handle and tilted spring head much better than Harry's . Harry's handle is just too light for me and I found myself pressing as I shaved.
