NFL had to make this rule in order to save face.. They can't be pro-women (as evidenced by the pink fest that is the month of October) if they don't take action against a wife beater.

Advertisers don't like domestic violence. They really don't like it when it is caught on camera.

To appease the advertisers the NFL has to publicly uphold its "image" so it will punish those that commit DV so that it doesn't risk the chance of getting a public black eye and losing potential advertisers.

When you play in the NFL you agree to give up certain rights the average Joe has and you agree to do certain things for the "team" and "league". If you don't like it, there is always the CFL.

It's a win-win in the league's perspective. They look like they're doing something for a good cause and they profit on pink-colored licensed gear.

I know breast cancer ****ing sucks and all, but at some point what the NFL (really all of America) is doing borders on outright pandering.

Anyone with a social media account (mostly facebook) saw the chart that shows what diseases kill the most Americans compared to the ones that are receiving the most donations to respective charitable organizations.

Why hasn't the league mandated a big "heart" on uniforms as part of an effort to combat heart disease? Or banning smoking on NFL premises for a week? Or promoting causes to fighting diabetes? Those are the top killers in America but the NFL doesn't recognize any causes outside of breast cancer.

I understand why they need to do this but if you are an NFL player this could really set you us as well. If your making the big bucks you better really watch your ass. I have no problem with this as at all if they require absolute truth.
