Yes. He IS better than Danny Allouche, though. So they've got that going for them. Which is nice. I do love the way the same crowd that loves Kim rushed to act like VanLeer was an underrated stud based on his play against the weak sisters (same with Puryear and Phillips). All three players have major warts that show up as soon as you play legit competition.

If there is a guy that's capable of being a 'really good player' - he ain't playing for Kim Anderson. Or at the very least, he won't stick around long enough to become a really good player (the JWIII rule).

Couple this with what my good friend says from the perspective of an assistant HS coach (yeah, that's not saying much but still) that he's not a D-1 ball player and didn't look the part from my perspective of a bird cage liner sports writer.

I get the privilege of seeing Missouri/Illinois game tomorrow night in person. Glad I didn't have to pay a cent for the tickets.

I would place the most blame with Alden. Wolfe, Middleton, Loftin all involved in forcing Kim Anderson on him after Marshall said "no." Wolfe probably most heavily. Middleton was also heavily involved in hiring Haith. If Alden wasn't a pathetic POS at running a basketball program/hiring a coach, none of those guys are involved in the decision. Quote:
Phillips and Puryear could be solid role players on a good team, off the bench types. Both are about two inches too short to be real impact players in most systems. Both would actually be pretty good in Mike Anderson's system (which is the type of thing Kim should go to with this roster construction, but won't).

Haith took guys that weren't his guys and managed to come up with a damn good rotation that was really just rotten-ass luck away from being a potential Final 4 squad. Now maybe that was all Nestor, but in either event, its shown more flexibility and creativity than Kim Anderson's ever demonstrated. It's hilarious to me how bad he is at this. Can't recruit, can't coach, doesn't seem to have actually developed 'young men' as much as he's simply run them out of the program. There's not anything he actually does well. And while our facilities were state of the art 10 years ago, they've fallen back towards mid-pack so we've lost a fair amount of momentum. At this point, there's very little to suggest that we'll ever get this program back to any level of consistent success.

Agree. Yet the Kim defenders try to act like he's so much better than Haith and this is all his fault. I'm not a huge Haith fan. I was glad he got booted. But if he was still the coach, you'd be looking at a starting lineup of: Torren Jones (shouldn't have booted him for allegedly stealing from a non-teammate) Jonathan Williams III Danuel House Kevin Punter Wes Clark Bench Puryear (if Haith wanted him) J3 and Clark would be much better as secondary/support players, and J3 would be much better with a big, strong guy beside him inside in Jones. House and Punter provide your scoring punch. That team would be weak-ish at the PG spot, but it wouldn't be completely awful there if you're just asking Clark to take care of the ball and play D. It's also fair, considering how much Brown and Clarkson improved under Haith, to expect Clark would be a much better player than he is after two years of "development" under Kermit. If Haith had survived last year, he would have had them back in the tournament again this year. Z

Dumpster fire is a dumpster fire. Atrocious defense, poor fundamentals, no team communication. Who'da thunk.

Illinois is painfully average this year. Nothing says "tune up game" like having the opportunity to take down Mizzou in a double-digit win on the road.
