Planned downtime this week

According to Austin Chief, the long-awaited server move is almost here. As his de facto PR guy, I figured I'd give everyone the heads-up that the Planet will likely be COMPLETELY down for an extended period of time sometime this week. This is all preliminary and depends on how things go, but the current plan sounds like Patriots Planet will be migrated over late tonight (Monday) and ChiefsPlanet will go late tomorrow night (Tuesday).

While the moves are happening, the respective sites will be down for quite a while. To put a guess to it, I'd put the downtime estimate at about 4 hours on the low end and 24 hours on the high end (for each site). Hopefully it'll mostly be during the night, but you never know.

If you just can't do without, be sure to have Downtime CP bookmarked for updates.

I saw you saying that you were considering and update to VB 5 on Patriots Planet; are you considering a similar change for ChiefsPlanet at some point? Upgrades are neat.

We will test it out on them and have a test site for us to mess with.... but if we end up liking it, for sure we will upgrade

Yep. Some people will still get the old (shut down) server for a while as DNS settings propagate across the interwebs, but if you're seeing this, you're on the new server.

Eh, it's an octa core CPU. A load of 2 isn't gonna kill it.

We'll see how it does during a game, but it's been rock solid at around 1.5-2.0 pretty much all day.
