There's Speeding...then there's SPEEDING
Sorry if a re-post. Dude clocked going over 200 mph in a Mustang in Oklahoma:
http://www.kmbc.com/article/man-arre...rnpike/8300966 The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a state trooper arrested a driver after clocking his speed at more than 200 mph. The patrol says Trooper Ryan Smith pulled over the man Saturday on the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City. Authorities say the man was driving a Ford Mustang and the trooper's radar clocked the car at 176 mph and then 208 mph. Authorities say the driver attempted to elude the state trooper -- turning off his headlights and brake lights at one point -- but he was eventually pulled over at a red light. The highway patrol says the driver stopped his car and dropped his keys out of the window. The highway patrol says the driver was arrested on complaints of reckless driving and felony eluding. |

This is considerably above 208, but to give you a sense of proportion

That really is it though. I don't think people realize what it takes to hit 200. Super exotics have a hard time achieving it. It's not just power...it's gearing, aero, tires, driver...all working fluidly together to hit a speed like that. A 19 year old in a 5 year old stang isn't doing it. It reminds me of when there is a major drug bust out on I-40 and the cops are like 1.7 million dollars worth of high grade pot stopped. Then they tally it up and it's like 20 lbs. and it looks like ditch weed. Sure 1.7 mill sounds great, but no one is buying that story. |

There is a video out from a couple years ago, 13' I believe, where a majorly modded ford gt hit 279.9 @ the texas mile. That's just stupid fast. I think the Veyrons top speed is @ 257, but I imagine it's hard to get there. That's also dual v8s working to hit that too. Car weighs alot, but man it's pretty. |

We build cars for a living. I work literally right next door to a Dyno tuning shop. Complete re-maps of the computer to support power adders easily reaches $2-3K. I know. I pay the bill, lol. @$150 an hour, a $500 tune is only 3 hrs of labor. Builds like ours are generally in there for 12-16hrs + Cold start cycles etc.

Of course this was all in my central Florida years. Their where tuners all over the place. I bet it is more expensive in KC because you have like 2 options probably.

This has to be BS, no way you could go that fast on the Kilpatrick due to traffic and horrible OK road conditions...
Also the KP isnt that long either.... |

Nah, im in SoCal. We're probably talking apples to oranges. We're not tuning factory ECU's most of the time. That's probably where our difference lays.

Yup, probably right. Never had problems on my GM cars with tuning the factory crap. My buddy has a 89' 240sx non hatch with a RB25 swap, greddy intake and a 76 mil turbo. He went through several local tuners with no luck. He finally had to drop a few grand on stand alone fuel management and a whole new ECU. Got everything hooked up and 30 minutes later it was running like a top.
