I wonder if the Cards could get anything for Carp at the deadline. He's horrible right now though.

I'm sure you're right, but it stings right now.

Obviously he won't supplant Freeman, but it seems pretty clear that getting away from that douche Matheny has done wonders for him.

They lost every game due to stupidity.

Peralta not running Rizzo back to second cost them the first, leaving Leake in to pitch to Schwarber cost them the second, and Piscotty and Wacha's stupidity cost them the third.

The difference is guys are hitting him harder and he's giving up 1.25 HR/9 and its because he doesn't have that big gap between the fastball and changeup any more.

I really don't know wtf is going on with the Cubs pitchers. Arrieta has lost velocity. Lester is a bit down as well, but not near as much. Lackey is the only one that's maintained, but he's ****ing terrible so it doesn't even matter.

Peralta didn't have a chance to run Rizzo back to second. He was running away from first base, throwing from damn near the grass, and he barely got the ball to first in time to get the runner out. If he even attempts to run Rizzo back to 2nd the Cards dont get an out on that play. Peralta did the best he could on that play.

If you want to blame someone for game 1, I suggest you turn your attention to Sierra in the outfield who was responsible for Rizzo being on base in the first place.
