If Brown hasn't heard of him, then he's not paying attention in meetings this week. If he is just trying to get into Morris' head, as you suggest KPhobia, then I think he is going about it the wrong way, as tat is more likely to motivate Sly. Either way, he doesn't come across as being to bright.
