How the hell do the Royals not sign him? I sure as **** hope they saw something they didn't like. Very surprised he was this cheap.

Wow. When is all of this spending of our money going to happen? Are we waiting for the scrub club until we overpay again?

Even with the option to opt, that's a fair deal for the club. Disappointing that we couldn't get something done.

If he was had for that cheap then the Royals weren't the only team to pass on him.

May be the 6 years. That's a lot to commit to a guy who may or may not be good. Who knows. Plus where are guys more likely to want to live... Arizona or Kansas City. Although it's not like the Royals were apparently the only team to pass on the guy.

Could be. I'm not nearly as optimistic as everyone else that we're going to get big name offensive guys to come play in our park. There's no guarantee we'll have players who are offensively better than Butler and Aoki in those spots next year.

Where's he more likely to play in the World Series?
I'll see what they're able to do through the whole offseason before I freak out totally, I just thought he was an opportunity to find a star and power in the lineup for a modest price (and yeah, $70 million for 6 years is modest in this market.) Get ready for Torii Hunter, unless he chooses the Twins. |

He spent more money than that on Jose Guillen, and that was like 5 or 6 years ago. That's not it. Either Dayton didn't like him or didn't want to commit to 6 years. Or Tomas preferred to live in Arizona over Kansas City. I can see how that would be more appealing to a Cuban player.

It will be cool to watch Aoki continue to rack himself on spinning swings and carve figure-eight paths into the outfield grass.
Good times. Have to find at least a little pop, and Hosmer and Moose must parlay their post-season swagger into '15. All of these things are possible. |
