E! Greenlights Dating Competition Series With NFL Star Travis Kelce

E! has ordered eight episodes of Catching Kelce, a dating competition series starring Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, for premiere later this year.

Fifty eligible women, one from each state in the U.S. will be invited to Los Angeles as Kelce searches for that special someone to become his lifelong “teammate.” Kelce will be joined by famous friends and family to help him along his journey, but in the series finale, only he can decide who is the right woman for him. The dating series has a twist, though. While Kelce will be deciding who stays in the house and who is sent home along the way, the women are able to strategically decide who is attending the all-important group dates. The debate becomes: do you pick your friends and keep those loyalties strong, or choose the “weakest” contenders to make yourself stand out? Lines will be drawn and friendships will be tested as the women pick and choose who gets the extra time with this football superstar.

“On top of being a well-respected athlete, Travis has a fun-loving, over the top personality that draws people to him, and we are excited to give our viewers an up-close look at his search for love,” said Jeff Olde, EVP, Programming and Development, E!.

In his first full year on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce had 67 catches, 862 yards, and five touchdowns to lead all the Chiefs, while his 503 yards after catch led all NFL tight ends. In 2014 and 2015, Kelce was a top vote getter for “Touchdown Dance of the Year.” Off the field, the NFLPA has named him one of their “Community Players of the Year.” Dedicated to his charity Eighty-Seven & Running, Travis spends much of his time working with less fortunate kids throughout the city.

Catching Kelce is produced by Grandma’s House Entertainment. Ben Newmark and Dan Newmark of Grandma’s House Entertainment, Scott Langerman of ACE Media, and Lauren Stevens are executive producers. Adam Bold and Mike Lopez of Grandma’s House Entertainment will serve as producers.

Another thing a lot of you probably don't know-- I've followed Kelce on all of the social media networks, including Snapchat... and this might be the best thing for him.

The dude is always posting videos of him either partying or pre-partying, even though it has slowed down big time since 2014.

If this extra month away keeps him from that type of thing that can lead to suspensions, I'm all for it.

Can you really blame if he is not 100% about football? In reality putting himself out there now makes him more marketable now for endorsements and for after football, which will be much longer than his football career.

Can't Kelce be all about football from August to January, but then be able to live a human life and enjoy his money from Feb to July?

Doing a show like this in March doesn't hurt anything as far as his football skills or mind is concerned. Are people seriously going to be mad that an athlete isn't digging deep into the playbook (Which they already have a great grasp of)in March? Kelce can go have his fun and then when camp rolls around, he'll get his mind focused back to the games.

If Kelce was 100% football 100% of the time what kind of difference would it make in his production? His fumbles aren't because he doesn't have an understanding of the system. His penalties aren't because he's unsure of the playbook. The difference it would make? He might have 950 receiving yards instead of the 875. Big deal. He needs to be able to have his off season time.

If we only knew the things Sean Smith, Eric Fisher, Justin Houston and Tamba Hali do/did during the off seasons. They're people, not football robots.
