Should Kickers/Punters Kick the Ball and STFU?
Vanderjagt, Chris Kluwe, Marquette King...

Last night the faider punter was flagged for taunting Hill after Hill's punt return for a TD. Sure the punter got trolled by Kelce and had a bad day at the office overall. But that would have been a stupid penalty for any position. But a punter? Seems wrong on another level, right?

Kickers/Punters seem to be held to a different standard for trash-talking and showboating by other NFL players. From what I've heard and read over the years, most NFL players think kickers/punters should be seen and not heard. Do you agree?

It was funny. Even more so because it's the faiders. (Fits the profile.) But I can also see why some other players think the kickers/punters are different. That they're "specialists" with limited duty and should be a little more circumspect...especially when it comes to trash-talking. Not a big deal, but the faider punter is taking it to a new level. Very different than from years past.

There are very few kickers and punters that are irreplaceable and even if you're that good, if your bullshit becomes a distraction you will get cut. King is a bitch on a team filled with bitches.

No. King is pretty cool. And what happened is cool. If he celebrates, that gives other people like kelce the right to mock him.

I don't care if players celebrate, no matter what position they are. Funny how people hate Goodell for turning the NFL into the no fun league and wanting to police everything but then get their panties in a bunch over things like this.

I hold kickers to a higher regard than most I think, because you absolutely don't respect them until you have one that costs you games and championships... A kicker's contribution can be monumental.

But punters, I think they are a much easier find and the overall quality of most punters is relatively equal. Hell, I played beer league with punters every bit as talented as any I've seen in the NFL. I give a slight edge to those punters that can consistently pin teams inside the 20, but even that is a marginal statistic.

So, all that said, I'd give much more leniency to a kicker than I would a punter. Go out and kick the ****ing ball and go back to the sideline.

I don't have any issue with a kicker\punter celebrating. But what cracks me up is when the Raiders just went three and out, their offense is trotting off the field in disappointment, yet here comes King skipping onto the field celebrating he gets another opportunity. He's laughing and clapping before every punt. Team player that guy.
