Phrases that annoy you...

This will probably be a dud of a thread, but screw it.

What are some overused phrases that annoy you?

Here's a couple that irk me for no rational reason:

"Across the pond" - I hear a lot of Americans use this phrase when referring to people from England, or just England in general. "Yea, we're headed on a vacation across the pond." Everyone uses this phrase and I hate it. It may have been clever the first time someone said it....but not anymore.

"In the drink" - fisherman use this one. If they're on the boat, and they knock something over and it goes in the water, they'll say it went in the drink. "Damn, my phone fell out of my hand and went in the drink. I'll have to buy a new one."

"Wet our lines/kayaks" - I've heard people use "wet our lines" quite a bit and it never bothered me too much, until I worked on shift with a kayak enthusiast. Any time you asked him what he was doing next weekend, he always said "Oh, I'm gonna go get my kayak wet." Every freaking time. Just got tired of hearing the same phrase.

There's a few more, if I think of them, I'll post them.

people who use that phrase SUCK!!!!!!

So when a player needs to get it going, is it "get on track" or "get untracked"?

I always thought on track made more sense. "Untracked" sounds like a train derailment.

I find this phrase quite useful.

This is polite shorthand for:

"This situation is completely ****ed up and there is no obvious way to fix it. But bitching about it isn't going to do any good, so I'm going to just go forward and do the best I can."

It's funny, I know. I noticed that when making the original post. I'm not sure why the three phrases that annoy me the most all involve water. I like rain. I like being out on the water. Just coincidence, I guess.
