Xbone vs PS4?

Need quick advice. After i take off from work here today im going to to pick up a new gaming system for my 10 y/o son's B-day.

I'm mostly a PC gamer and haven't really paid much attention to the new consoles. For the longest time i've only let him play kids games such as Mine Craft and Little Big Planet on our PS3. Recently i've allowed him to get into the CoD series and he's just been obsessed now.

If i use it, i'll mostly be using it for Madden and Racing.

So, what do i need to know?

They've got it right with the Forza series. Not a big forza fan myself, but I'd say that experience has to be better for most over GT: Game Delay.

Make sure you get a quality wheel and peddle setup. You can't play Car games with a controller. It's dumb

I have both and not really enough time to play either. From my limited experience you chose right with the PS4 since my xbone usually just annoys me with long upgrade patches whenever I turn it on. Forza 6 is fun though and would be nice if we finally get a gran tourism game for ps4 which is supposed to happen this year.

Think about when RDR2 comes out next year your son maybe old enough to play it.


My son loved RDR and before that GUN on PS2 was fun game because you could light dynamite sticks to arrows and shoot people and they blow up and land on buildings lol

People call it GTA in the Wild West. IIRC, it wasn't nearly as "mature" as GTA. You should definitely buy it and play it to make sure it's kid appropriate.

I would of told you to wait when the updated xbox and ps were out, i 5hink ps just came out and the xbox is the end of 2017. They just need to quit calling them consoles at this point.

I would say PS4 but ultimately it comes down to which system you/him have the most friends on. If he wants to play online then it needs to be the system most of your/his friends have.

This. I have both systems and PC, and my PS4 sits pretty much untouched. All my buddies are on XB1 or PC. I bought the PS4 during a best buy sale and our blue ray player took a dump.

He was every bit as excited as i had hoped. Sadly we spent most of the evening setting the damn thing up. I created a fake email address to make him a quick profile so he could get in and play right away.

Then i come to find that unlike the PS3, Sony now requires you to actually log into said email address and confirm the account. So then i had to go and create this new fake email address. Turns out my fake email address had already been taken.

So then i had delete the account and do it alllll over....

Finally get the account made, but since it's a child account i had to log into my master account and jump through more hoops.

FINALLY get into the interface...and then had to wait an hour+ for the game patch to download....

Really made me miss the ol' cartridge days.....

New Nintendo console uses cartridges.

Interesting to see the PS4 answers in here. At the youth group we have for church we have a couple PS4s and a couple Xboxs. The PS4 generally sits untouched. We were going to sell it and get another xbox.

The only deciding factor should be what system your friends are on. The games are developed cross platform, so there is little parity between them sans exclusives.

Very true. I'm also a bit surprised at comments about the Xbox controller not being good. I think it's pretty much regarded as the best controller. PC users that like to use controllers pretty much all use it. Even those Steam consoles use it. To each his own though.

I understand if you've been PS4 wanting to stay that way and also understand that if you have a good feel for that controller, that the xbox one would feel odd to you. I personally can't stand the PS4 controller for the same reason, just feels a bit alien.

At the end of the day, playing the platform your friends are on makes the most sense out of any on which console to choose.

I absolutely hate the xbox controller. It feels big, and awkward to me, and I have bigger than average hands. The playstation controllers just fit perfect.
