9/11 Rembrance Thread
Where were you? How did you react? Does it still reverberate with you or is it in the history books for you like Pearl Harbor?
Please keep politics out of this thread. Rather focus on the people who died on 9/11, the heroes who avenged that attack and those soldiers who died in that war. WIKI: The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.[5][6] Additional people died of 9/11-related cancer and respiratory diseases in the months and years following the attacks. |

Found the full documentary on YouTube have never seen it since its first airing in 2001.
Keep in mind this was originally two French brothers filming a doc on firefighters that just happened to be there on 9/11.At the 38 minute mark footage from inside one of the towers starts.Warning it's a very intense watch the sound of bodies hitting is sickening.

I was working at the Univ. of St. Thomas Library in Houston at the time. My boss was devastated. He was from New York and had eaten at Windows to the World with his wife before. We got off work early and I drove home to be with my (now ex) wife and our newborn daughter (now 17). We'd had our first house flooded out during Tropical Storm Allison earlier that year, so I stopped by the house to check on things, then headed home. That house was right by IAH and it was noticeably quiet. The drive to Conroe through Humble was strange too because there are almost always planes in the air over Humble and since flights had been grounded already, there were none. On the ride home, every single station in Houston must have been broadcasting news instead of music. Once I got home, we spent the rest of the day glued to the TV coverage.

The gas stations were gouging people, yet lines were several cars deep waiting to pay $4+ per gallon.
