What are your thoughts on Chick-fil-A?

I took my kids to Chick-fil-A today because we had some coupons for free chicken nuggets. I got myself a sandwich and fries while I was there.

I'm not even interested in talking about the terrible marketing or the politics of the restaurant. I'm strictly interested in talking about their food. I have been to this restaurant four or five times now, and every single time I am overwhelmed by how mediocre it is. It seems like everyone I know loves it and they're constantly ranting and raving about how great it is. The chicken is average at best and the waffle fries are by far the worst I've ever had anywhere.

Do I just have weird friends or is it common for people to think this place actually good? I'd rather go to Wendy's or Arby's or Hardee's or whatever any day of the week.

Food is decent but overrated. Biggest complaint about the place is it's a pain in the ass to get my iced tea refilled if it's remotely busy. It's the only fast food chain I've been to that still makes you go to the counter and ask for one.

Depends on your location, I suppose. All over them around here are self-serve.

Interesting. All the ones around here you have to ask for it and they are fairly new. Wendys used to be like that but switched to those almost as annoying Coke machines a while back.

Smartest around, Penn Station has a separate kiosk with fresh brewed tea and fresh squeezed lemonade side by side.

Luck of the draw, my church has the same arrangement for potlucks [only it's Countrytime powder, not fru-fru fresh squeezed]

My Wendy's has the Ai1 Coke machines, but still has an urn for brewed tea. They may have flavored tea in the machine, I haven't checked.

They also have the behind-the-counter specialty 'ades' [raspberry limeade, mango lemonade, etc] but there's no refill for those.

But in the south shit is different so you adjust yourself to it.
My tea, when in the South, has been delivered sweet and I gasp and spill it out. Waitress/waiter says that's how we serve it. You have to tell us you want it unsweet. I still forget too. Just NOT used to it.

I do that with three cinnamon sticks at Christmas when I make my cranberry tea. I put in cinnamon and some clove together while the tea steeps. Then I add cranberry juice concentrate. It's a big hit.

I wouldn't say that when there's authentic dark rye and pumpernickle from Germany in the stores. Or millet and flax bread. Mine doesn't even have any yeast in it.

Yeah, they all have some kind of flour.
