One of Kansas City's largest downtown employers reportedly laid off hundreds of employees Tuesday, a little more than two months after being acquired by a Connecticut-based competitor.

Digital Systems Technology they stored at one time much of government records. They lease and or own many abandoned limestone quarries they converted to storage facilities for this purpose. I did a lot of work for them when they came on the scene. You had to have a very strict background check to get within eye site of that place.

I used to work for DST and took a tour of the caves. They were essentially a fortress and it was awesome.

No 63rd on the hillside where TimeWarner cable was and now Channel 9 news. DST KC Southern developed that whole Industrial area. The quarries are under that hillside with an office structure on top. They built a headquarters over on about 8th and Baltimore. Several other quarries in KC area they converted and 23rd quarries possibly.

My sister-in-law was one of the casualties and they had notice that layoffs were coming. She gets a full year severance pay.

My brother works there too and survived the bloodbath.

I used to know a bunch of people that worked there. And they tried to get me on. Glad that I went in another direction. I think that many of them left a few years ago as well. Happy that they didn't get caught up in the fray also
