Broncos forced non renewals to season ticket holders.

http://www.denverpost.com/2017/05/03...ckets-weeding/

The Denver Broncos booted season-ticket holders who didn’t go to a single game last season and that led to upgraded seats for 144 accounts and about 400 seats through Monday, compared to only 14 accounts and 39 seats the previous season, the club said.

When all upgrades are made, the forced non-renewals also will allow the Broncos to make season tickets available to some fans on the 75,000-person waiting list for the first time in six years and increase its very limited single-game ticket allotment. Last season, 97 percent of the seating capacity at Mile High Stadium came from season-ticket holders, leaving just 3 percent for single games.

The Broncos said their legal “weeding out” — based on technology in the electronic ticket resale market — is putting “more tickets in the hands of Denver Broncos fans,” team spokesman Patrick Smyth said Tuesday.

But it has outraged some long-time season-ticket holders who question how the Broncos can prove what tickets were sold and why they weren’t warned of the policy.
Broncos Season Ticket Holder Upset About Losing Seats
CBS Denver

Aurora’s Mike Fletcher, 69, had season tickets since 1977 but was told his 2016 no-show would end his annual agreement with the team. The season-ticket policy states that every account is a revocable license issued annually.

March 9, 2017 Good news for those at the front of the Broncos’ nearly 75,000 season tickets wait list

Fletcher appealed to the Broncos, saying a collapsed lung and lung-reduction surgery in 2016 forced him to sell his tickets last season. The team denied his appeal, and according to the Broncos’ ticket office, Fletcher’s tickets from 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 all were sold on the secondary market and used.

“I have tickets showing that I went to games, or I’d let my kids go and buy a handicap seat for myself,” Fletcher said of attending games from 2013-15.

“It’s been difficult for me to hold those tickets at times,” Fletcher said. “At times I couldn’t give those tickets away. A season-ticket holder has to give them their money in February of each year. If they’re checking anyone’s tickets, they ought to let people know that and put it in their policy.”

He added: “I guarantee you they didn’t take some of these sky-box owners’ tickets back if they didn’t go to at least one game. But how do they know that? How do we know that?”

Eric Siegler, who lives in Chicago, said he sold his seats last season to help support his cancer-stricken mother-in-law in Minnesota, who has since died. After being notified of his non-renewal, Siegler wrote an appeal letter to the Broncos, and also had his father, sister, aunt, cousin and three friends write the team. Each email was obtained by The Denver Post.

Denver just keeps on being the shit bag franchise that they have always been.

Anyways, what's the 2017 Chiefs Season Ticket situation? I don't live in KC, but would make 5-6 games a year. Are they hard to get? I filled out the online info request. Thanks.

OK...we're in agreement here. I haven't physically attended a game since the 90s - that is what the 70 inch TV is for - so does it expressly say that you may not sell or give your seat to anyone else on the ticket? Or is that a "policy" that has suddenly appeared?

This is a really good point. Denver could have achieved the same end by merely giving Elway a contract extension.

There's no waiting list, but there may be if you are looking for better seats.

Thank you sir. Hope some decent ones are available. Only small difference to me in pricing tiers compared to buying single game tickets.

Point is, you're renting a room just as your renting a seat with the season tickets.

Some of you are acting as if Denver is the only team doing this. I think it's unfortunate if a guy who has had tickets for ever is older and sick and can no longer attend games. Does that mean he has the right to continue owning those seats and reselling them?

Teams are tracking seats being sold online and those that are repeatedly sold online, regular season and playoffs... those are subject to not being renewed.

Let's say my grandpa was a lifelong Chiefs' season ticket holder... he can no longer make it to games. So, I take the seats, but rather than go to the games, I market them online specifically to fans of other teams. Regular season and playoffs... you cool with that?

If my grandpa is giving the tickets to friends/family and they're paying him - nobody knows nor do they care. Once the tickets end up online every game, same seats... they're red-flagged.

It's no longer a fan watching his team, it's a fan turning a profit and only the NFL teams do that in their stadiums.

Google it... some (maybe all) season ticket holders get access to buy those tickets.

Not hard to get.
except if you want what most consider the better seats.
lower level sideline or lower rows of the upper level especially sideline are probably not available.

Ive had Chiefs season tickets 10-15 years. As recently as a maybe 5 years ago when they would send info about tickets for potential playoff games I remember there being something about a 'lottery' for STH for a 'limited' number of SB tickets.

The last couple years I don't recall seeing that. Last year when they had the bye and seemed to have a reasonable shot at maybe going I searched all over the website for SB ticket info. I couldn't find anything. If they won the playoff game I was planning on calling but of course that didn't happen.

I love that policy.

I gave up my seats just this year because they can't seem to find me a spot where I am not surrounded by opposing fans. I have had tickets for over ten years. They were my fathers before that for thirty. I made it to four or five games a year from LA. The ticket office has actually been very cool and they put up with me sending them pictures of all the shitty opposing fans every time. I get kind of irate about it. They have tried very hard to help, but the sea of red is a myth right now. I told them I'd still buy this year if they ate the preseason games instead of me, but they couldn't help me with that request. I may very well regret the choice.

If we had a waiting list, I would want the organization to boot the scalpers. Problem here is, we don't no leverage.
