Strasburg's name is a little better than Strasburg as a player. He's really good, don't get me wrong, but he can be pretty erratic ... and I'm not sure he'd be worth the king's ransom his name is sure to garner

I'm fine with what we have right now ... if we need to another rotation piece for the stretch run we can do it at the trade deadline

and flipping Yordano for Strasburg is a sideways move ... why on Earth would we do that?

If they want Holland + 2 top prospects ... that's justifiable

I still think comparing Ventura's value to Strasburg's is an unnecessary exercise, anyway.

If the Nationals trade Strasburg, to me that's them saying their rotation is good enough without him. They're not looking for a 6th starter to instantly replace him, IMO, which is what Ventura would be.

Right. The idea is to build a better rotation. We have prospects and relievers so we trade from a position of strength.

Nats can stagger their rotation spending by dealing for a younger cost-controlled starter. With Zimmerman, Fister, Gio and even Strasburg hitting FA shortly it makes quite a bit of sense to consider salaries.

Would we do it? Probably not. I'm just giving an assessment of value here. Stras carries the identical value James Shields did and he cost is a top-5 and top-35 prospect. We don't have those right now.
