But with 5.56, you can carry more ammunition.

You need to cause it doesn't cause the same damage..need more rounds to create the same amount of damage

Although the 762x39 has better pentrating power, it does not cause more damage.

Why do you think that the Soviets all but copied the 5.56x45?

When a 556 hits a person at or above hydrostatic shock velocity it is devastating.

yah, I think the 556 does more internal damage because it bounces around inside the target causing more tissue damage. However, that being said, I still prefer the larger 762.

Which is why the US nearly copied the 762x39 with the 6.5 and 6.8.

I am an AR 10 guy, so 762x51 owns all.

I have seen what both rounds do to people..I have seen 12 rounds of 5.56 dumped into someone before they dropped..I have never seen more than 4 rounds of 7.62 needed to drop a person..I would take 7.62 every single day..slower moving heavier round with ballistic tip

I am in possession of my brothers AR 15 right now. I have had it about 4 weeks now and I just went and bought 150 rounds of ammo. I am dying to take it out for a spin.
