Netflix Officially Confirms The Punisher's Solo Series
I didn't see a thread about this, so...
(Warning: If you haven't yet seen Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil Season 2, then the following contains minor SPOILERS, albeit largely implied ones. Proceed with whatever level of caution that suggests to you is wise...) Now, while there was a lot to love about Marvel and Netflix's recently released second season of Daredevil, for most fans one particular element in the new series stood out above all the rest: Jon Bernthal's take on iconic Marvel anti-hero Frank 'The Punisher' Castle. With Bernthal bringing a subtle, soulful, endlessly tortured quality to the role, and the show giving him plenty to do, it always seemed likely that we'd be seeing a spin-off series sooner rather than later - yet both Marvel and Netflix refused to confirm that it was anything more than a possibility. Until now, that is. Y'see... Netflix Just Officially Confirmed That a Punisher Series is on its Way Now, when the show will actually arrive remains a little unclear - sometime in 2017 seems the most likely - but just knowing that it's on its way, having received a series order, is seriously good news. With the anti-hero having built up a handful of intriguing relationships during the course of Daredevil Season 2 - not to mention his having ended the series poised to set off on a fascinating path - it's reassuring to know that we'll get to see Frank Castle explored even further. What's more, with Punisher getting his own solo series, it now seems even more likely that we'll see him teaming up with Netflix's other Marvel heroes in the eagerly anticipated team-up series The Defenders. Now, if they could just get Spider-Man to drop in too... What do you reckon, though? http://moviepilot.com/posts/3891227 |
