So adding Geno Smith would be depth. Right in front of Alex Smith. When Alex Smith is riding the pine and Geno is riding the Lombardi trophy for the chiefs.

Exactly Geno will be the face of this franchise. Imagine how many fans he will have when he becomes the first or second qb ever to win the Super Bowl his rookie year. While Alex Smith is a back up.

No that's absolutely true... but you can't really escape the whole "buddy" thing.

In the end, everyone comes from somewhere. Look at this year's Super Bowl. The Niners' GM is a Parcells guy... he started as a scout for Parcells and Belichick and Dick Haley with the Jets. And Ozzie Newsome came in under Belichick with the Browns. The entire thing leads back to the same tree. Both guys credit Parcells and Belichick for teaching them how to do their jobs. I don't know if it's really bucking the trend, it's just being smart about it.

If this front office gave up more than about a 5th they are already starting off on a horrible note. SF was going to release this turd eventually, paying a premium for a guy with no market is moronic.

Chief Freaks on FB are reporting we gave up a 3rd and a late pick.

This move if true is called insurance. Its depth. Plus like it or not hes the best FA qb out there besides flacco. People don`t even know whats going to happen and you all are going ape shit.
