Is this your first NBA offseason? Some of these NBA GMs treat FA like the wild west. It's absolutely hilarious.

The only way Green stays is if he pulls a Jimmy Butler and is willing to sign a shorter lower salary deal to wait for the TV Money.

But with TV Money coming and stuff expanding GMs know a 20 million per offer to lock someone up could be a decent deal for the future when guys start asking for 30+ mil.

Everything I have read says between $15-18 million\year. And since he is restricted Golden State can match whatever offer he gets.

Option One: Sign an offer sheet with another team.

In this option, Draymond takes an offer from a different team and gives Golden State three days to match. Any offer sheet must be for at least two years and option years do not count, meaning they would have to be added on top of the two. Furthermore, a new team cannot offer a player more than a four year contract or raises of more than 4.5% off the first year salary. Amin Elhassan of ESPN Insider used current cap projections to estimate that a player in Draymond’s circumstance could get a maximum first-year salary of $15,768,500. It would follow then that Draymond’s most desirable offer sheets would be a two-year contract worth around $32 million with a $17 million player option or a three-year contract worth a little over $49 million with an $18 million player option. Considering the fact that the salary cap will rise substantially during the next few years (Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress tweeted the NBA projections), I would expect that if Draymond goes down this road he would take the two-year deal with a player option. That would also give Green the chance to become a free agent in 2017, the same year as Stephen Curry.

So a year ago I bitched about the 2014 fiba cup. Namely, why any player who refused to play in it was unpatriotic. All for some absolute bullshit exhibition.

It's a bit of a side topic, but can we please do something about these bullshit exhibitions? After this playoff series, nba needs to think long and hard about how overworked some of these players are.

This was clearly a physically taxing series for LeBron but think about how mentally taxing it was?

You think a guy like Kobe or even Michael wouldn't have eventually tried punching JR Smith or Iman Shumpert in the face?

Kobe demanded a trade out of LA because his teammates weren't good enough. I can't imagine him instead of LeBron in this series. He might have killed somebody. They would have lost every game by 30

thats what his actual worth is through the eyes of a Warriors fan no different than a Chiefs fan thinking Justin Houston is worth less than 100 million (did think that, I'm pretty sure its generally accepted now)

the problem is NBA FA pays an over inflated worth because theres a lack of superstars and stars so teams will overpay for good players just to sell to their fanbase cause theres literally nothing else.

Bill Simmons made an entire career of ripping overpaying NBA franchises for years now, cause its funny and its the only sport that does it.

For as bad as that roster was, LeBron would've had a better shot if not only for Lamar Odom. That said, Kobe missed the playoffs and lost in two first rounds. Cowherd, per usual, was right on today about everything. That said, I've officially lost interest in talking about Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Jordan or the nba.

Baseball has calmed down with it but I remember A-Rod to the Rangers. I think the advanced statistics crowd has brought MLB more into line with the exception of the Yankees.

If I understand this correctly the NBA has rules in place for max contracts. That is why guys like Butler are only going to sign a short term deal because the new TV contract is going to raise the cap significantly which means more money in max contracts.

With the current salary cap of $63.1 million, the league has three maximum tiers. For players with up to six years’ experience, they can earn up to $14.7 million in the first year of a new contract; seven to nine max at $17.7 million; 10-years or more allows for up to $20.6 million.

The NBA projects the salary cap will climb to $67.4 million for the 2015-16 season, bumping the max numbers to approximately $15.8 million, $18.9 million and $22.1 million.

right but what I was saying a team can offer him a poison pill contract thats maxed on the backend that either forces GSW to match and puts them in the luxory and may impact their cap in the future on better players.

Well yeah, that's the western conference for you. The conference where 2-3 teams miss the playoffs whereas if they were in the East, they'd be as high as 5th seeds.

So Tristan Thompson is going to ask for a max/near max contract from the Cavs and he'll get it since his agent is LeBron's agent and best friend. Hilarious. Thompson is a decent role player and gets rebounds like nobody's business, but a max deal for him? LOL!
