Tell me about Zarda BBQ

I've never been there. Tell me what's good and what's not good.

I think you stay 'neat' in Zarda - go with a simple beef or beef and ham combo on a bun, with the deep fried cauliflower - and then grab a rootbeer.

I don't think their ribs are all of that.

I probably feel around the same as George - 6/10

Anyways...I used take home all of the left over meat and beans that were left over in the pan. good stuff, never got bored of it.

they have good sammiches. that's about it though. their ribs are probably the worst there is in terms of kc bbq joints.

If it's not their sammiches....I'd go somewhere else 9 times out of 10.

good salad bar though.

& that Mike Zarda is a cock - tell them COMO - go on....

You guys who live there know better than I who only visits a couple of times a year. But when I come home I will hit up 3 or 4 BBQ's during a week stay.

When it comes to favorites it really depends on what your getting. I grew up in Rosedale. So needless to say we ate a lot of Rosedale BBQ so it holds a special place in my heart. Their Ribs and Brisket are pretty good. When I was a kid Quicks used to be pretty good down there by the old drive in. But IIRC they crashed and burned.

I will hit up Danny Edwards for a burnt end fix since it is hit and miss with Oklahoma Joes. I think theirs go very fast and aren't always available. It used to be you could get good burnt ends at Jack Stack but the last few times it seemed like they made them from the flat so they didn't taste quite right.

After reading this thread my mouth is watering for some good BBQ. I won't be back until the Seattle game. That's a long wait for some good BBQ.

I must have caught gates on a bad day the three times I've been there. I think it's the worst of the well known places. LC's being the most underrated.

The baby back ribs were so good, I almost choked to death on them while inhaling. True story.

But then I am a Californian, so anything that is a step up form the godawful shit BBQ they serve in this state impresses me.

Loved Zarda. Loved Gates. My favorite was the Hickory Hut in Salina, Kansas. But of course it is all about personal preference, so you mileage yada yada.

The Zarda pork ribs were heavenly. I made them give me like 6 or 8 pickles with them. I kept coming back for another pickle and finally they just gave me a handful of pickles.

Wife, daughter and I ate at the one in Lenexa last month. None of us cared for it. Too pricey and not very good.

I have a slab on the smoker right now though. I know it will be good!
