Tyreek met with the NFL for 8 hours. . . .

Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill met for eight hours with NFL officials today as the league continues to review whether Hill violated the league’s personal conduct policy.

A league source tells PFT that Hill’s meeting with NFL Special Counsel for Investigations Lisa Friel and her deputy, Jennifer Gaffney, began at 8:30 a.m. local time in Kansas City and concluded at 4:30 p.m.

At issue is an allegation that Hill physically abused his son and broke his arm, a comment Hill made in a recorded conversation that his fiancee needs “to be terrified of me,” and the circumstances that led to Hill’s son being removed from their home.

The Chiefs have not permitted Hill to participate in offseason work, but it is unclear whether he will be present when the team opens training camp on July 23. He could be suspended for a significant period of time, even though he is not facing criminal charges.

If the NFL decides to discipline Hill, he would have another meeting in New York with Commissioner Roger Goodell.

It can't be said enuff: "Mother**** you Florio and all the pious, rush-to-judgement, slack-jawed troglodyte haters." It ain't over, but the glass is definitely half full.

It appears Tyreek Hill’s tumultuous offseason could soon be coming to an end. Hill recently met with NFL investigators in lengthy talks that expounded upon the four-page rebuttal offered by his lawyer to the NFL. Now, as Hill waits to find out about his status with the league, his standing as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs could soon be at the forefront of the conversation.

According to a report today from Yahoo Sports’ Terez Paylor, the Chiefs and Hill’s representation could soon pick up where they left off in negotiations for a contract extension.

Several things would likely have to happen for negotiations to resume. The Chiefs would need to reinstate Hill and allow him to be present for training camp. The team has made it clear that they want to reward players that are present during the offseason program, and that applies to Hill.

The NFL’s investigation would also have to come to an end in a timely manner and with a good outcome for both Hill and the Chiefs. That means no lengthy suspensions or time spent on the commissioner’s exempt list, and the NFL’s ruling must not come to the conclusion that Hill harmed his 3-year-old son in any way. The Athletic’s Nate Taylor reported today that the Chiefs have expectations of a maximum four-game suspension.

If and when contract negotiations do resume, no new and damaging information must come to light regarding this situation. Something like that could put talks back into an indefinite hold and permanently damage the trust between the Chiefs and Hill.

Prior to the allegations of child abuse and neglect, the Chiefs and Hill were working on what was reported to be a record-setting extension. It’s unlikely that his deal will reach record-breaking heights after this entire situation, but Hill is still a priority for the Chiefs.
