Additionally, Kaep is making way less money than Tebow. I have no problem with him trying to increase his wages.

This is what cracks me up about this place.

Trademarks are not about financial gain. They're about protecting your image...your brand.

Tebow and Co. did it because the entire nation was going ape shit over his antics. He actually had a much better reason to trademark his image than Kaep does, and Tebow never talked about making t-shirts or doing anything to try and profit...it was simply to protect the image.

Kaep doesn't really have anybody "Kaepernicking" but himself, and he's talking about trademarking, making shirts to sell, etc.

Yet Tebow gets slammed and Kaep is just cool..??

As I said in the Tebow thread about all of this, I'm no Tebow fan, but this particular topic shows just how nuts this place can be sometimes.

Wait a minute. How can Kaepernick be a good QB? He was drafted in the 2nd round. I thought only a top 2 or 3 pick in the draft could net you a good QB.

Typically, your chances are much higher of getting to a SB from a 1st round QB.

Additionally, Kaep has arguably the best QB coach on planet Earth in Harbaugh right now. I'm sure that has been somewhat beneficial.

Do we need to go over percentages again?

Odds of a 2nd round QB becoming a star
Odds of a 1st round QB becoming a star

Which one is higher?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Perfect response.
No one ever claimed guys drafted after the 1r never pan out it is just a matter of playing odds at the most important position.

Oh I'm not saying we shouldn't draft a QB with a high first round pick. Of course we should. I'm just saying, we can still get a good QB in a late first round or beyond. The fact of the matter is, we don't even do THAT. We just don't draft QBs in the first half of drafts. It's annoying.

One guy has substance to his game and the other flukes stuff up in spite of completing 4 passes a game, as a result drives his critics insane, and gets the hype of a top 5 qb that his on field play has neeeeever warranted at the NFL level.

I like Tebow and everything he represents but that's really all it is as opposed to a double standard.

just out of curiosity, why did Kaepernick drop to the 2nd?

too skinny? Didnt play for a big school? Viewed as a runner first?

admittedly, i didnt know much about him until this year.

My buddy loved him coming out of college. I had literally never watched him play until draft day when they showed highlights. Felt pretty meh about him then. Now I feel like an asshole.

People miss. Everyone in the CP mock passed on him in round 1. DaKCMan AP stole him in round 2.
