I just looked at the ingredients in those vegan products. Thought I might pick some up. I do keep Dr. Praeger's California Veggie Burgers in my freezer and I love them. Very flavorful.
But beefless ground and one of the others is made with soy for their protein substitute. Soy isn't good for you either—especially men. Only fermented soy is healthy. I do like to have one or two vegetarian meals each week, because I like it for variety. I get tired of animal protein. |

Of course, which is why I stated pretty explicitly that I'm not a vegan because my "deep empathy for cute animals" doesn't overcome my desire for some form of real protein.

"I have a deep empathy for animals and think there's a lot of hypocrisy/ignorance around people who feel and act differently." I'm generally referring to the hypocrisy and ignorance evident in this thread (not throwing stones - just stating my opinion) - NOT the hypocrisy and ignorance of those who don't follow a vegan lifestyle. That is, there's someone who has a different viewpoint from you that doesn't infringe upon your day-to-day existence at all and yet there's so much animosity. I love how so many people in this thread know a vegan who won't shut up about it and should die and that paints their entire viewpoint of these people. Equating it to something like - say - politics that actually has real world consequences that *can* infringe upon one's existence: if there's a Republican at work who won't shut up about it, do you immediately paint every Republican with the same brush? I would hope the answer is "no." But people take their limited sample size (yes, I'm sure some of you will respond that you actually know 13 vegans and they're a cult that should be wiped off the face of the earth) and pass judgement. In this case, that I find ignorant and hypocritical. And just to be clear - I could not possibly care any less what anyone eats. It's a personal choice for personal reasons and I don't for a second begrudge people for that. THAT SAID, upon further reflection, I've only met one Syracuse fan in my life - a guy I hated in college. I actively cheer against them now because I figure that guy is sitting there watching the game and pulling for them. But I think I know I'm being fully ridiculous. Not sure everyone in this thread is the same, but maybe. |

I think vegans regain the strength they lose from lack of protein by being smug assholes. It’s science.

I did a plant based for a while. It was the best i had felt mentally and physically for years. Not "vegan" because that term is synonymous with activism. I didnt adjust my diet for activist reasons, i did it for health benefits.

If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding! How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?
Vegan whack jobs indeed.
