Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers, I really appreciate it. As of now it seems like it is still a wait and see game. As the swelling goes down he may improve or he may not, if nothing changes from current state he will definitely be wheelchair bound. From what I understand, the fact that he is so young leaves a lot more hope than if he were an adult though. Totally insane to see this happen out of such a common flu bug type situation.

Absolutely...kids' bodies are very resilient. If there's anything positive you can take from this so far, it's that it happened lower down on the spine rather than in the brain stem or brain.
