Re: Hi Gaz

Hi SR-

Good to hear from you. We are fine & I hope you are well, too.

Heh. Like almost everything on the Planet, Geno is such a polarizing subject. Amazing to me how emotionally invested folks are in opposing opinions about a football player. I've seen political & religious conversations with less heat.

I think Smith is probably the QB prospect that is most ready for the NFL right now. But he is also the best QB in a very , VERY lean QB draft year. Whatever college QB rises to the top of the "must draft" lists always becomes larger than life. His strengths & flaws are magnified & obsessively examined. And then they are blown completely out of proportion. I think Geno Smith is the best of a lesser lot & is being hyped way out of proportion to his ability.

Had we not traded for Alex Smith, I would not have been horrified by Geno at #1. We needed a QB & it has been so long since we drafted & developed our own homegrown. But I still thought that OL or DL was more critical. I know OL in the First Round is anathema to a lot of fans, but you gotta secure the line. I think we should go for a Offensive Tackle or someone who can bring a pass rush. I know that would be chum in the water at the Planet. Blood would flow & people would disrespect my Mother.

Personally [and I know the Planet consensus would be that I am an idiot for this opinion], I think the "franchise QB" is a myth. Folks talk about Manning or Elway or Flacco winning a game all by themselves & try to rank QBs by comparing their win/loss records. QBs don't win games. Teams win games. Offense, Defense, Coaching & Luck [no pun intended]. Look at Elway before Sharpe & Davis.

So, this was a very long-winded way of saying that without the Alex Smith trade, I would have preferred an Offensive Tackle or Defensive Lineman or MAYBE a Linebacker in the First & a QB in the 2nd. If I were King, Geno Smith would not have been on my draft list. With the trade, it looks more & more likely that I am going to get what I wanted. And we'll see how good my prognosticating skills are this season.

Have fun, man.

xoxo~

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I think it has more to due with the fact he doesn't care to argue for argument's sake...

So you and milk support personal attacks in lieu of a more adult discussion, shock value over valuable debates, or even allowing a "agree to disagree" end to a discussion? And anyone who feels different is a virgina?

I don't know guys. I'm not in grade school anymore.

So because he made a decision not to hang around a bunch of people that act the way that so many do here makes him a vag. That is pretty weak.

A person doesn't want to hang around a bunch of druggies or drunks. So they don't go to those types of places. That does not make a person a vag.

I have always agreed with Gaz that there should be more civility on the planet, forcibly if necessary.

I'm completely baffled as to why NFL fans either can't grasp this idea, or choose not to grasp this idea.

Seriously? Chiefsplanet is very tame and mild compared to other message boards.

Gaz is an outdated relic who would only seem to be comfortable in Don Fortune's man cave.
