Cuthbert doesn't have any options left. It's literally the only reason why he is in the major leagues at this point in time. He has too much potential to be playing once or twice a week, but that's the role he's in for this year. He's sandwiched in the fact that he can't start over Moose and he can't go down to Omaha without getting sent through waivers. If he had any shred of defensive ability he would have started the season at second base and for all we know Whit would still be the one down in AAA.

Cuthbert is the type of player who could very easily be a future everyday Major Leaguer, but for that to happen he needs everyday AB's, everyday reps. He's not getting that.

He's a below average ball player. He doesn't have one tool that is exceptional. Average hitter, slow, average arm, below average power, and below average fielder.

Which he cannot do to the fullest extent this year because he's starting once a ****ing week.

He should be in AAA, sure we can all agree on that, but he can't be in AAA. How are you going to fault a player's development when the only learning curve he is offered are AB's coming off of the bench and maybe one game a week when he is actually in the field?

Obviously it's a play that should be made, but the guy has it far from easy this year.

So he's going to suddenly develop more speed, a stronger arm, and a better glove? 24 year old ball players are normally where there going to be defensively by that age. He could still develop some as s hitter, but he will never be a good defender and he will always be slow.
