Yep, I think everyone with an opinion on here was saying they were tagging Sneed and negotiate with Jones.

Which has more risk:

A - Giving Sneed a 3 year deal as a first or second highest paid CB in the league, and having him perform at that level all 3 years.

B - Trading Sneed for what equates to a 2nd Round pick (4 years of Rookie contract control) and $20MM to spend in FA (a starting WR? extend '25 FAs?) the next 3 years, and having the pick and players perform as a group better than Sneed's value to the team.

I think the higher risk is Option A. Option B definitely has a higher floor.

As recently as September we wouldn't have even thought twice, but as Terez said "the contract year is undefeated." The next 3 years aren't contract years.

I see no risk in signing Sneed. Second-round picks are always risky, even for Veach. I'm sure he'd get a great free-agent, but a free agent as good as Sneed? As the British say, not bloody likely.

I kinda feel like if they’re tagging him they may think there’s more out there than a 2nd

Depends on what else we are doing.

In a vacuum you don’t just let Star shutdown corners walk.

Good to see there's a clear plan in place. Hopefully these means a Jones deal is imminent

Relative risk, I guess is what I'm asking. I'll be happy to have Sneed stay in KC.

Just trying to weight the two options out, and I land on Option B.

The factors I considered:
- He was good his first 3 years, and was ELITE this past year, so much so that he was essential for us to win the AFCCG and get to the SB.
- He had a nagging knee injury this past year.
- He will cost 18-20MM against the cap the next 3 years if we sign him, which could mean letting upper-mid-level talent walk in '25/'26
- We have a ton of young talent in our DB room
- Veach & co are top-tier drafters relative to the rest of the league
- We desperately need a talent infusion in the WR room, and this would allow us to pursue that.

If they leave Mahomes contract alone and trade Sneed for cap space I would not be happy.

Sneed is so important to our chances of winning it all again. I don’t think we’re as prepared as people think for his departure. He’s a rare player that brings a very special presence in addition to his raw talent. He brings an edge that’s infectious, I would hate to see the D lose that.

I think realistically Sneed is only going to play for us on a tag. I do not think we are going to sign him to a multi year deal (going to want more then 2-3 year deal) and salary he is going to accept.

Then you get into other positions and the need to replace LT and what to do with Jones....

I don't think he'll be happy playing on the tag, ala Earl Thomas.

Could be the case, but with an increasing cap imagine what he could get elsewhere if he has another great year and we three peat.
