3. The Chiefs re-sign C Rodney Hudson to a 4 year, $20m deal ($6m guaranteed), DE Allen Bailey to a 4 year, $12m deal ($3m guaranteed) and DE Kevin Vickerson to a 2 year, $6m deal.

4. The Chiefs extend OLB Tamba Hali 3 years, $35m ($15 guaranteed). The deal is backloaded but with nearly all the guaranteed money up front.

5. The Chiefs cut WR Donnie Avery, TE Anthony Fasano, ILB Derrick Johnson, and DE Mike DeVito.

6. The Chiefs tender OLB Josh Martin.

7. The Chiefs let walk WR Frankie Hammond, OT Ryan Harris, OG Jeff Linkenbach, and OG Mike McGlynn, S Kurt Coleman, S Kelcie McCray, and S Ron Parker.

1.15. WR Ty Montgomery, Stanford

WR Ty Montgomery, Stanford -- It's obviously extremely early in the process, but it would really surprise me if Ty Montgomery is not in the conversation for Chiefs fans as the next draft approaches. For my money, it'd be hard for Dorsey to pass on him: he runs incredibly fast for a 6'2", 215 lbs receiver, with every ounce of big play ability that you need. The Trees use him in bubble screens, in reverses, running deep routes, and so on. There's very little Montgomery can't do. And he's been productive with poor QB play, already having 350+ yards and three TDs in six games. Montgomery also plays with an intense passion, occasionally bordering on hostility, which should help in all the work he'll have to do in learning how to block better and to better refine his routes. He plays in Stanford's pro-style system, which is notorious for churning out reliable NFL talent. I'm just a huge fan, especially considering this is EXACTLY the kind of receiver the Chiefs need to be finding and investing in. I think he could go as high as the teens, and the Chiefs should absolutely bend over backward to bring him on board with their 1st.

2.45. CB Ladarius Gunter, Miami

This is a significant one- or two-round reach for Gunter, but Dorsey's no stranger to crazy reaches at CB if he loves their size (6'2") and speed. With the 5'10" Chris Owens on the inside, the Chiefs now have a corner depth chart of Sean Smith (6'3"), Marcus Cooper (6'1"), Phillip Gaines (6'1") and Ladarius Gunter (6'2") on the outside. Gunter needs to strut his shit at the Combine if he wants to become a Chief.

3.75. OT Jake Fisher, Oregon

Stephenson's final year on the Chiefs is 2015, and the Chiefs let Ryan Harris walk in this hypothetical. Under Dorsey, the Chiefs have brought on Eric Fisher, Ryan Harris, and LDT at the tackle position. They like quick feet and long arms at the tackle position. Jake Fisher definitely has the agility, though I have no idea about his arm length. Dorsey also really likes Oregon's program.

3.96. ILB Ramik Wilson, Georgia

The Chiefs managed to extend Hali in this hypothetical -- thank god. But they still did the necessary, sad task of letting DJ walk. If that's the case, they need to make some serious investments here, as JMJ is clearly not up to the task. Mauga may be, however, and the Chiefs are content to let Mauga battle it out with Georgia's athletic Wilson.

4.109. TE E.J. Bibbs, Iowa State

Again. I know. I promise I'll be more creative as draft season approaches.

4.130. WR Titus Davis, Central Michigan

Has the size/speed combination that Dorsey splooges over. And Dorsey clearly loves the Central Michigan program...

5.144. K Kyle Brindza, Notre Dame

I'll be drafting Brindza off and on throughout the season until Santos gets his shit together, if that ever happens. The Chiefs need a kicker who they can rely on for 50-yard kicks.

5.168. CB Senquez Golson, Ole Miss

A smaller CB with tons of speed, the Chiefs do like smaller CBs in the slot. (Flowers in 2013, Owens in 2014 and 2015 in my hypothetical).

6.183. S Justin Cox, Mississippi State

Cox is a super athletic safety that the Chiefs can groom for a year. He's been drafted in the 8th round of the MLB Draft this past year. Reminds me of Jerrad Page (sp?).

6.202. NT Darius Kilgo, Maryland

Lacks some in athleticism, but Kilgo is a block of granite in the trenches who has some technique work to do. He can learn behind Poe and Walker for a year or two.

7.220. OG Jon Feliciano, Miami

Another player lacking in athleticism, but is strong as a bull with long, powerful arms. Perhaps a Zach Fulton clone.

The Draft:
1: GOD No.
2: Waste of a 2nd rounder.
3A: Interesting idea here, probably a round too early, but I like the selection.
3B: Love the rationale, HATE the pick. There's way better talent available there for this team, and that 2nd you wasted earlier could have been used on Kendricks, leaving this 3rd rounder for "true" Press-Man Corner out of a big boy division who got overshadowed by his counterpart, I'll let you figure it out, Mr. Dorsey.
4A: No. Iowa State players just don't translate to the NFL very well, especially at the TE position. Iowa, on the other hand, has a knack for putting TE's into the NFL. That being said, in this hypothetical scenario, you kept Demetrius Harris, a waste of a roster spot, so you better not be wasting a pick on a position we have little need at.
4B: No more injured WR's please. Way better talent from the Big 10/12 at this position with 3 or more years of experience. Also, if the receiver doesn't fit the Reid mold, it doesn't ****ing matter what Dorsey likes. Get this through your ****ing head already.
5A: Why the **** would you waste a 5th on a kicker? It better be ****ing legatron if you want to waste a quality pick on a ****ing kicker. You can sign a better kicker undrafted, better than santos. ****ing Prater was available, coulda done that.
5B: One of few justifiable picks here in your draft.
6A: I actually love this pick
6B: No, you have to be physical if you are going to try to play the position in this defense, and technique aside, you have to be a physical beast, and that's something you can't really teach.
7: Won't be there, but I like the thought process.

A QB hitting the roster for 3-5Mil per year that does nothing but waste space when we can replace him for ~700k per year with Murray and/or Bray. Jamaal Charles was our RB when we had Cassel under center, too. Cassel was so bad he brought the ship down with him, such is the importance of competent play from the QB position.

Cassel didn't bring this ship down in 2010, did he? Because his sinking in 2011 was in large part due to the absence of Charlie and a much tougher schedule IMO.

I agree though, competent QB play is paramount to all, but not at 3-5Mil per year for a "safety net" that will in large part have his decision making relegated to designed plays and LOTS of force feeding of the run game, and a losing streak to boot.

Chase CANNOT manage or run this offense, at all. Bet your ****ing house on it against me and I'll rent it back to you for a really good deal.

He's literally the biggest WASTE of dollars on this team and far and beyond the most overpaid backup for his skill level. Chase is like having a Cassel Jr. here, only Cassel could manage an offense with a competent coordinator.

Murray and Bray both showed us plenty, which is exactly why Murray went on "IR" "quote, ****ing finger quotes, cough, ahem". Chase is GONE this offseason, GONE.

You're right, I don't know why I said that. Point is, he's not truly injured, but we feel confident enough at the position that we needed the "injury" to stash him because he wasn't going to stay on our P Squad without getting claimed or signed. There's just zero evidence right now to support the idea that Chase stays.

You mention Chase staying because of a "contention" year, but that's almost a moot point, since we'd be out of contention if we lost Alex who has been taking and will be taking all the 1st team snaps this year and next. On a team where our ceiling is 10-11 wins per season, losing Alex is likely going to lose us 2 games, taking us out of contention.

This does nothing but add weight to the notion that Chase is dead weight on this team, and emphasizes the value of drafting a Tackle with that #1 if our CB isn't there.

Even a 2-4 game absence is likely going to be a post-season absence in this division, you and I both know that. Which means you either bank on having a healthy QB and a strong defense, or you have a backup every bit as good as your starter, of which Chase is absolutely, unequivocally not, and he's a GODAWFUL fit for this offensive scheme as well. Granted, Bray and Murray are equally bad fits, though I see larger upsides in both of them, than Chase, simply because Bray has a way better arm, and Murray is arguably a closer fit to the system than Chase.

So far, though, you have to remember that we are 2 for 2 with drafting QB's with the new regime, something they said they would be doing every year is drafting QB's. After the 2014 draft, I think its fair to say we have enough talent behind Alex to let Chase go, since he has the least upside of the three, and the likelihood that we will be drafting a QB in 2015 is 100%.

And that's what you ought to be doing D, is profiling every draftable QB in this coming draft to find "the guy" we end up drafting either early at a value, or super late at a value, because its about as guaranteed as a new dawn.
