You Can Access 15,000 Marvel Comics Right Now For a Buck

http://gizmodo.com/go-get-access-to-...jus-1609618223

As we all prepare our brains and twitter feeds for the unstoppable flood of comics and entertainment news that will pour out of San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced some news in the quiet before the storm. Now, for 99 cents, readers can gain access to Marvel Unlimited, the publisher's treasure trove of 15,000 issues from current series (well, at least six months old) and classic golden- and silver-age titles.

You can also store up to 12 issues offline so you can read without a reliable Wi-Fi connection. As long as you have a Mac, PC, iOS, or Android device, you're in business.

Marvel, DC, and other publishers have been testing the best way to monetize digital comics for years, and Marvel has tried previous attempts to woe readers to their digital service—even putting free download codes in print copies. The service usually runs for $9.99 a month or $69 for the year, but at least for one month, you can embrace a summertime comic binge on the cheap. [Marvel via Wired]

Oddly enough I agree with both of you.

I'd rather pay the $2.99-$3.99 for the physical book and own them. I don't read enough comics for it even to be worth the $9.99 a month.

I could never get into comics as a kid. I read a lot. I mean I read books like it was an addiction. I'd read the back of shampoo bottles while pooping, whatever I could get my hands that was within reach of the toilet. I'd burn through comic books in just a couple of minutes and feel cheated out of the purchase price.

Comics are great on the iPad. I have yet to try an android comic reader that doesn't completely suck.

The Marvel App isn't bad. I had a Nexus 7" tablet (before a rescue dog that my wife adopted ****ing attempted to eat the ****ing thing, that dog had to be put to sleep for unrelated health reasons) and the Marvel app on there was pretty good.

I started with Challenger, but now using Komik which seems pretty good. Don't have an iPad, so don't know what I'm missing there. Looks absolutely fantastic on my 2560 x 1600 amoled Tab S. I'll definitely be checking this out for a buck.

eh, maybe if it was $10/year. I barely have time to keep up with the few comics I buy these days.
