Some POS thief went through our neighborhood last night

Wife's car got hit, stole her iPod. Nothing major taken (really glad her .40 was not in there). She just got done with the cops, he said someone went around the neighborhood between 10 p.m. and midnight and hit several vehicles within a couple blocks of us.

Thieves are scum.

Not only are they scum, but they can do financial damage all out of proportion to their theft.

When my truck was broken into, the window cost more to repair than what they stole from my truck. To maintain the integrity of my truck, I took the rest of the day off work and got the window repaired.

The next day, I made sure there was nothing left in the truck to steal and nothing visible in any event, but that didn't stop the low IQ thief from smashing the same window again just for a look see, as if my truck would magically recharge itself each night with goodies.

People say it is too expensive to spend $25,000 per year locking up low end property thieves. I says, it is way cheaper than the damage they do annually, plus police and court costs, if they are in a high speed chase, if they need medical treatment after the cops shoot them.

I am good with locking up property thieves for a good 5 years each time they are caught. WAY cheaper than the damage they do to our property each year.

Why can't we just execute them??

(Serious question)

Consider installing an extra motion light. Punks like that don't like light because it makes them easy targets and susceptible to beatings.

Cop said it wouldn't have deterred the thief. Our lot is admittedly dark, but he/she hit homes that were well lit.

Ah. That makes a lot more sense.

We had a guy a couple weeks ago park down the block around 9-10pm. Then he was walking by our house and then to the end of the block. I heard the next door neighbor's dog going off so I knew something was not right. I then went out back to check my garage. I had my 75lb boxer and my 9. That guy was in for a world of hurt if he tried anything with my family and property. The wife told me later that she saw him stop in front of the neighbor's house and just stare into our window.

We had a group of 3-4 teenagers and an older guy stealing cars in our neighborhood from last winter into this summer. They went as far as car jacking a guy with a gun. I had heard that one of them got Reginald Denny'd with a steel pipe while flashlighting into someone's car window and his buddies ran off and left him KO'd in a driveway until the cops got there.

We haven't had a problem since.

I've been so lucky. I've never had my car broken into, never been robbed.

My house was broken into, MLK Jr.'s bday, 2011, while we out of town.

Thieves suck.

Been going on in my neighborhood lately, too.

So, of course, one night last week I forgot to put down the garage door, so they got into my wife's car and stole her purse.
Nothing to expensive was taken, except her keys. SO I had to replace all our locks that evening.

My Olds 442 was stolen 4 times. 3 from our driveway. And each time they left it at the end of our street because we didn't keep a battery in it. Sucked to get rid of it but we couldn't keep it garaged so it had to sit outside tarped. ...and we got tired of dealing with police reports etc.
