Have you ever cried over a sporting event?
Just curious. I never knew anyone even considered it until I found this board and several of you said you do. (Not passing judgment at all, I just have honestly never heard of it).
The only time I can recall getting emotional over a sporting event was January 1996, we all know what I'm referring to. I walked out my parents basement and was yelling outside and throwing stuff for probably 20 min. Then I realized "Nobody can hear me and my ears are now frozen". Sports are, as Don Fortune once said, the Toy Department of life. Anyway: do you cry over sports? Well punk: do ya? |

Many times. It's natural once you start following a team to begin to think of yourself as part of the team (see stupid stadium noise record chasing). Once that mental connection is made, success or failure of the team is internalized and emotional responses occur.

I've had plenty of reason to cry over sporting events.
Losing that shot at the MNC when the Cats blew a 15 point lead in the Big 12 CCG... ugh.. 1974 OT loss to Syracuse in the East Regional Final after Chuckie Williams hit a BOMB to put us ahead. Ugh.. But after 29 years of waiting. And dat comeback... Yea, it choked me up to see the Royals take out the A's on the 45th anniversary of my Dad leaving this world and the 16 year anniversary of Quiz' death. |

I, for some reason, was devastated over a regular season loss we had against Dallas in 2005. We play that game 10 times, we win it 9.5 times. Everything imaginable went wrong, finished 10-6, lost tiebreaker to Pitt, they won a Super Bowl

Senior year high school football lost in the state playoffs to a team that was ranked below us and they made it to the state championship game. Just total heartbreak.

We were like that in BBall. Number 1 ranked Team in the KC Metro area. Lost in sub state to a team we had beat by 30 points 10 days earlier. They went on to win the State Title. That one STILL stings, and it was 31 years ago.

I do get very emotional over games at times but never flat out cried. I did cry however when I first heard DT died and also when Steve McNair died
I also cry like a little bitch during every It's A Football Life story. I'm pretty sure everyone does though, right? |

Also, every time we play the colts in the playoffs I have to get drunk to deal with it. I generally get shit faced, fall, and wound myself.
That shit hurts! Makes me cry every time. |
