What are the chances P. Mahomes II shows out in Training Camp and the preseason?

And if he does, do you make the switch then?

I'm so excited we finally have someone we believe in at the QB position that we've drafted. Whether he pans out or not, this was the perfect year to go get what we want. Hopefully he dons the red and gold for 15+ years.

Reading the TT boards...they are happy as hell for the guy and are elated because they think the selection of Mahomes will encourage stud recruit QB's to go to TT now that an air raid QB has been drafted that high in the NFL. A few of them are saying that they are going to be Chiefs fans now that Mahomes is in KC.

The general consensus with their fans does seem to indicate that they think he'd be most successful if he weren't rushed, though.

A debate long overdue in relation to the Chiefs, and a hell of a lot more fun than debating the pros and cons of Alex Smith.

This had the Broncos brass pissed and worried and especially GK and why the divide between He and Elway at the end of the season as to who would be starting at the beginning of 17. Yes GK's health was part of the reason he left but the bigger reason was PL is Elway's pick and TS was GK's pick who proved he can spin the ball and given the protection can pick you apart. PL was underwhelming to say the least and showed he was not ready for prime time at all and GK knew he would not be ready for prime time this year as well. They both agreed to disagree and parted ways and why now Vance Josef(yes man for Elway) said it is an open competition at QB and PL will probably start.
Numbers-wise, I think the worst you could call him was mediocre. He didn't play much, but he was a rookie. Drafted significantly later in the 1st round than Mahomes. Just seems like people are ready to crap all over him for only being mediocre in limited playing time his rookie year. If he had ridden the bench behind a veteran, people would still be calling him the future of the franchise. Just seems odd.

I think you learn a lot more by actually playing. I have no expectation that the Chiefs will advance past the divisional round this year. And actually, the only scenario I can foresee that happening involves Mahomes playing QB.

If he were truly just mediocre Siemian would never have returned at the helm. And mind you Siemian returned still injured to some degree and the brass knew it which tells you how desperate they were to get PL off the field before his ego would get permanently damaged. Just saying.

Unfortunately, our recruiting is the dumps right now because Kingsbury is on the hot seat. I don't think Mahomes getting picked Top 10 is going to change our recruiting.

Kliff deserves credit for finding Mahomes before anyone else though. He didn't have a lot of offers coming out of high school, even though you will see some pretty crazy throws on his high school highlight tapes. I think a lot of other coaches were scared he would go straight to MLB due to his 95 mph fastball and his father's MLB career.

Like I said, no need to change spots if there is no competition thus no message being sent BUT now there is. We will agree to disagree and by no means am I a AS supporter but AS is a total system QB that needs all cylinders hitting whereas PM2 can easily compensate for a cylinder or two not hitting.

I hope he starts sooner rather than later. I would love to find out how good our receivers really are. I've always wondered what this offense would look like with a real QB. It's surreal we're going to find out. Hopefully Maclin is still on board and playing at his peak when the time comes.

Running the ball used to dominate high school & college to such an extent it set QBs & WRs WAY back. But nowadays everyone throws the ball. These kids throw the ball 50 times per game in high school. They have 7 on 7 leagues where they throw the ball even more. They go to college, Mahomes averaged what? Nearly 400 yards per game passing over 2 years? I bet he's already had more reps throwing a football than a quarterback 10 years ago would have by about their 10th year in the league. There is a playbook to learn, gotta learn how to take snaps from center, but also a long offseason, training camp, preseason, and many weeks during the season.

If Alex wants to go fetal and set the offense back you put him in as soon as it's apparent he can get something done. My over/under is about week 10 of the season. At some point you'll want to see if he's developed enough to go ahead and let Alex walk in '18. I'll be shocked if he doesn't start this year.

Prepare to be shocked. Barring an injury to Alex I think he will sit the entire regular season. I'm as stoked as anyone on this board on getting Mahomes but he does need groomed to the system he was in to the NFL way of playing. More so then the other two QB's picked in the first round this year from what I can see and read about him.

Be patient my son.

The crowd chants...PM2!! PM2!!

Pat puts on his helmet and comes into the game where he drives the Chiefs up and down the field for the win.

Alex never gets his job back.
PM2 will be our # 3 all year unless Bray gets hurt.

What if, I know it's a reach, but what if Bray comes in and the light goes off, he lights up the offense and picks D's apart.

Then in 2018 we have a QB controversy?
