People hate Melissa McCarthy because it's trendy to do so. It's kind of like Nickelback. I'll admit, I don't think she's super amazing, but she's a talented comedic actress.

I thought it was an okay movie. No way is it as bad as this thread and other reviews make it out to be. It has lots of problems but there were some good laughs in it from time to time.

It seems any movie with superheroes or a reboot gets trashed before its even released. Nothing is ever going to be as good as the original. They are just popcorn movies. Check your brain at the popcorn counter and just enjoy the frivolous movie it was meant to be or should be taken.

I went to the late afternoon showing. It was 1/2 full. Not bad for the time.

Doesn't surprise me at all that you actually spent money to go see this movie.

1) You can't reboot a franchise or make a sequel without there being comparisons made to the original. If you don't want that make something new.

2) The more loved the original film the higher the expectations will be for the remake/sequel.

3) If both 1 and 2 are true don't be thin-skinned. Don't call your potential audience "masochist ****s."

4) Don't purposely invert sex (while erasing the importance of the 1 black character by removing them as the tie to the audience) and make this a SELLING POINT OF OF THE FILM without it being discussed. It will be.

Winston was the everyman - the normal guy that didn't understand any of the science or voodoo going on. Him being black was irrelevant in the original and in this film there is plenty of cool-aid and black face. It's as much a trope as a trope gets.

5) Absolutely no symbolism in the "bad guy" being the original ghostbusters logo coming to life and they have to blast it in the D!(K to kill it. None.

They kill the original ghostbusters logo.

By shooting it in the dick.

6) If you decide to do a remake make it different (they did) and you should be able to make it better.

7) I'm the biggest fan in the world of Murray. He's sardonic, cynical, ugly as ****, honest, and endearing at the same time.

Few actors can pull of that rare combination.

This was barely a good movie in 80s. Lets be honest about that. The previews all look poor. I doubt I'll even watch this on TBS. Sure as heck wouldnt pay extra for it.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect it's not as good as the people cheering it because "yay feminism," but not as bad as the people decrying it because "boo women!"
