I'm sure I'll end up watching it once it hits Netflix. I won't pay a dime to see it though.

The ghosts look amazing BTW
If I were coming up with an idea for a Ghostbusters reboot I'd have one the originals (probably Aykroyd) running a paranormal lab with a couple of female assistants who have personalities that are somewhat similar to the other two main characters from the original movies. I'd have the black lady starting off as the office person for the lab, and she would basically be the one common sense person in the whole place that makes sure they don't blow themselves up and that the bills are paid on time. Her personality would be much like Winston and, although she is equally qualified, she tends to run the business side because the others are such goobers. So in the beginning of the movie Aykroyd is frustrated because his team isn't finding much anymore. They work on a device that increases the sensitivity of their equipment and it backfires-creating a device that amplifies paranormal activity on a grand scale with a field that centers on the lab.

Aykroyd asks them to don the gear and fight the manifestations while he attempts to deactivate the device. It runs on paranormal energy and it is constantly cycling higher and higher in power while he is scrambling to stop the process. One of the women in the lab has an old friend that is willing to help, and she is talked into joining the team. The new "Winston" hires an office temp to keep the lab office going while she is out ghost busting and it happens to be a young, quirky, attractive guy. All of that takes, what, five or ten minutes? Maybe fifteen? Now you have four female Ghostbusters out fighting ghosts with Aykroyd doing little scenes of trying to hold the fort together, and the young guy bonding with Slimer who is hanging around the lab. You end up with guys in the support roles and the comediennes doing their things and attempting to chew scenery amidst top level special effects monsters. The black lady can be kind of bossy in a maternal way because she has been doing that in the lab anyway. Her shtick of "keeping it real" works because the other three can't function in the real world. At least that's a jumping off point that doesn't shit all over the original movies.

Unfortunately, the actresses in this will claim gender or racial bias as to why this turd is immediately flushed. This thing looks absolutely terrible, and I don't give a shit about how cool the ghosts look. Anybody can do that stuff these days, so it's just not impressive. I'm actively hoping this movie bombs like Hiroshima...

Consider this: what if a different director made a comedy called GROOMS.

In this comedy all the men were carbon-copy versions of the women from Bridesmaids. The same basic events happened. They went to the same places, drove the same car, did the same things.

It would be an unimaginative ripoff, perhaps sexist, and not worth watching...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

If you don't like this movie, it's because you're sexist.

I've been reading some of this thread, and I will admit, I thought you were all a bunch of sexist assholes... Then I watched the trailer, and you guys are right. This movie won't suck because of an all female cast. I kind of like the women they chose. This movie is going to suck because it has a shitty script and looks like it was executed terribly. That sucks. Its an abomination.

Hillary Clinton ain’t afraid of no ghost… busters.

Groan, but hey: the Democratic presidential candidate will join the cast of Ghostbusters on the May 25 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Clinton will appear with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones on the show. The episode marks the cast’s first televised sit-down interview, so what better way to celebrate than with one of the most powerful political voices in America.

So I just noticed that the Internet ridiculously went off on James Rolfe (the AVGN) the other day as some kind of sexist for legitimately refusing to watch this cash grab. Our PC/fake outrage culture these days is really the worst.
