Still a long way to go. They're still only 3 back in the wild card. That's nothing.

It is nothing. They might not make it but who knows at this point. It's basically like calling an NFL season over at 5-4. No one really knows.

That's baseball. You just need to hang around and not take yourself out of it, which the Royals actually didn't do for once. One decent hot streak in the 2nd half and you're in the mix. The 2nd wild card definitely helps. Toronto's dropped back to earth, the Yankees lost their best pitcher, the Angels/Mariners/A's all get to beat up on each other... although the Texas teams might negate that.

I know mathematically they are right in it.

But it's the Royals, they will find a way to screw up. Plus, they can't ever seem to beat the Tigers when it truly matters.

I won't believe in them until they give me a reason to. I can't let myself get excited. I won't.

They just beat the daylights out of the Tigers less than a month ago with first place on the line.

It's going to be tough to catch them though. They're a good team... and picking JD Martinez off the scrap heap has helped take them to another level. That still doesn't take the wild card out of play though.

If Shields is really right again like the last two starts, him, Duffy and Ventura are a legit group.
