I'd buy a nicely restored 2014 Ford Taurus. They are badass. I will be restoring one here in about 5 months.

I'd buy an AMC Gremlin. Total chick-magnet. I will restore one when the Chiefs win a Super Bowl.

I had a 2011 Mazda 3 Grand Touring for two years. It was nice but after we drove from Maryland to Florida it felt like driving a compact. I had paid extra for the sun roof/radio package, the ten speaker Bose audio was not great and didn't even have XM radio.
In 2013 I traded for a new Hyundai Veloster Turbo. List price was $23,925. The Veloster was introduced in 2010 but was underpowered with a 138 hp. For 2013 they released a limited run of 201 hp turbo models. Everything was standard including leather except for the nav/sun roof option. The first shipment of 700 units arrived late 2012 and dealers were charging above list just like Mazda Miata when it was introduced. They had a website, still do, for Velosters and they gave updates on which dealers were receiving turbos. I had to have automatic because of my wife and I didn't want black because I'm in Florida and I didn't want red. So finding a white or silver automatic took about 3 weeks and I had to drive 100 miles to Winter Haven. Autotrader said the list was $23,925 but I should only pay $22,600 and my Mazda 3 trade should be $16,000. I called and then drove to the dealership and they gave me the figures I just wrote. The car rides solid, I had owned a Corvette in the 80's and it felt like that. The standard 6 speaker radio had XM and the sound blows away the Mazda radio. Music in a car has always been important to me. The car gets 30 mpg on the interstate and about 25 -27 around town. The only I didn't like was it's a 3 door, the back seat can only be entered from the third door on the passenger side. |

that seems like less than ideal gas mileage for a car that size.

I hate those sporty little Mazda's. When my truck was in for repairs the rental company gave me one and I traded that back into them the next day for a Ford Fusion. They gave me a Mazda6 I believe and it was so uncomfortable to drive to the point of being painful. The ****ing lumbar support in the seat stuck out so much and was so ****ing hard it was ridiculous. I tried adjusting it, but I was just wasting my time.

It depended on how much your foot was in it.
(BTW, the "Zoom Zoom" reference was because the Festiva was designed and built by Mazda) It tended to follow the grooves and wander. It would also blow all over the road if passed by a big truck. I usually went to school on the back roads instead of the freeway. |

Oh yeah... This was my car from about 15 to 15.75, when I learned what "throwing a rod" meant at 90 mph on K-10...
