The Motorcycle Discussion Thread

I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.
http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75

That's a bummer. No plug for a quickie fixie?

those Buel Lightnings are the shizzle.

I would LOVE to own one. for a while, they could be had for damn cheap on the used market. I haven't scouted them for a few years now, however, so I'm not sure if that's changed at all.

My best friend and riding brother got hit in game traffic on saturday. (he lives by the stadium and was on his way to work as the game was ending.) Some asshole in a cab decided to bust a Uturn from the right lane with out checking the left lane. He is perfectly fine, sans a little road rash. It really is pretty miraculous that he didn't break any bones or anything, since he was thrown over three lanes of oncoming traffic.

Anyways, this ruined our plans for BBB, which if he was seriously injured I wouldn't be concerned with, but since he's ok... Stay safe out there guys and gals, never know when someone will be an idiot.

Unfortunately not. No object in it, just a gash. The rear tire had a slight uneven wear pattern anyways and I've been thinking about getting a new set.

First time I've had to put tires on a bike. I've done some research and while I'd like to put some Metzelers on it I need to go a bit cheaper since I'm about to buy a house. Was thinking about Shinko 777s. Anyone have experience with them? I've read good things.

glad you're bud is ok.

we're headed to BBB; if you or any of your other buds are headed down, you're more than welcome to head out with our group or meet up a long the way. Lots of fuel stops for me given my fuel tank .

. I"m In Lenexa, and think our group will most likely roll out from Gardner. Still trying to decide if we're going down Thursday night or Friday. hopefully know a bit more in the next week or so.

10-4.

I want to find out which date for sure; I work about an hour commute away so if we're leaving on Thursday, I'd rather know sooner than later.

we have a benefit ride this weekend; so hopefully we'll talk about it a bit this weekend. it'll be here before we know it.

Look into FULL BORE Tires. Cheap.
I use bought some for my Triumph Tiger for the season. The set cost me like $160. I know they have some sport and touring models.

This was the cheapest place.

Well they say there are two types of bike riders. Those who have wrecked and those who haven't yet.

I guess if your going to have one it could be a lot worse than the one I had last night. Little rain only going about 35 in a turn, one of those metal construction plates on the road and the bike just dissappeared from under me. I litterly was rolling on the ground and saying to myself, "wth, is this really happening?"

Lady behind me was a nurse, said it flipped in the air and barely missed me when it came down. But the only damage is the engine guard and a little scratching on the farring and left floorboards.

Me on the other hand...... Nothing appears to be broken, lots of raspberries on my arms chest back and hands. Very stiff today, chest and neck pain.
