Just Felt An Earthquake At My House

Anybody else have their house shake? Holy hell, that was a little unsettling.

Foundation damage for me, no. The ceiling connected to my fireplace has cracked from the last couple quakes we've had.

You see we have been "In The Last Days" since man fell from grace and even more so since Jesus's resurrection. Scripture states that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord. So when Jesus said to his disciples I will return very soon after my death and resurrection, it makes perfect sense. Man in his sinful finite state, a thousand years seems like forever. But for God(perfect infinite state) it is a blink of an eye or there is no reference for time, however Jesus uses a reference of time for us because we are in a finite sinful state of being.
So "very soon" to God would be just days from His perspective not ours.


Man's sin destroyed the utopian state of this earth effecting/infecting everything from A to Z of our existence here on earth(physical,mental and emotional) and why there have been earthquakes from the very beginning until now. Earthquakes show the imperfectness due to man's sin and they are also are used at times by God to communicate to man and we see this many times in scripture. Are there more today than in Biblical times ? Don't know but I doubt it. There are the same amount going on today as back then is my guess. God through His grace bestowed upon man, His knowledge for us to discover technology(about many things which is very Biblical when discussing 'man's knowledge increasing in the last days') that can actually record all the earthquakes going on everyday throughout the world.

Man in his finite state has no more power over the earth's climate than he does supposedly causing earthquakes by "fracking for oil" or "wastewater injection". However, there is this popular notion among some Bible prophecy teachers that "earthquakes" will increase in number the closer it gets to Jesus's return. Simply not true. There is no scriptural evidence for this whatsoever but Jesus does talk about earthquakes right before His return.

Signs of the End of the Age

Witnessing to All Nations

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

The Abomination of Desolation
(Mark 13:14-23; Luke 21:20-24)

15 So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination of desolation,’a described by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand), 16 then let those in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop come down to retrieve anything from his house. 18 And let no one in the field return for his cloak.

19 How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not occur in the winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again. 22 If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.

23 At that time, if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible. 25 See, I have told you in advance.

The Return of the Son of Man
(Mark 13:24-27; Luke 21:25-28)

26 So if they tell you, ‘There He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days:

‘The sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’b

30 At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.c 31And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

Readiness at Any Hour

45 Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is that servant whose master returns and finds him doing his job. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’ 49 And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day he does not anticipate and at an hour he does not expect. 51 Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Listen. Christians have told us for years that disasters are the Lord warning us against sin. The midwest has next to zero earthquakes. Like, almost literally nothing major as today was. It wasn't a bad earthquake per se, but my mind isn't in tune with earthquakes. So when my desk was shaking and the blinds were rattling and the floor was vibrating, it took me some time actually understand what the hell was happening.
