HOF receiver HOF RB Great TE Possibly the best OL in league history Great coaching Very good #2 receiver Best defense in football It will be interesting to see how Alex plays when the team around him is vastly improved. He won't be Troy Aikman good, but I expect a career year. |

Aikman was probably the most accurate QB it ever saw.
I bet at least part of that was his ability to be comfortable in the pocket and that defenses had to play him honest, though. |

The point was that contrary that what some people around here constantly spew, it's not necessary to throw for 4,500 yards and 40 TD's to win a Super Bowl. And Troy Aikman was egregiously overrated. Once the talent around him began to dissipate, so did his effectiveness. |

Well, it was a combination of Emmitt Smith and an incredible offensive line and let's not forget, a pretty damn amazing coaching staff.

That should be good enough. But Aikman is probably top 5 all time in accuracy, and he went through his progressions as quickly as any QB. People struggle with the concept, because of the talent he had surrounding him, but he was an elite QB. Alex Smith is not that.

So "serviceable" he isn't on an NFL roster.

It really makes me wonder how many records Dan Marino would have put up in today's NFL.
The guy was throwing 40tds a year in the 80s. That was in a time when defenses could rape receivers, too. |

Good lord, I can't even fathom what he could have accomplished with guys like Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.

Anyway, Alex Smith's completion percentage was 70% in 2012 and 65% in 2014. If he can keep it between 65-70 AND his receivers begin to provide him with more YAC, the 2015 Chiefs have a chance. |
