RGIII is a QB. He needs better protection and better play calling. I can't ever remember an NFL QB having a career ending ACL tear. Furthermore, once an ACL is replaced, it's stronger than the original.
This isnt the first time he has shredded his ACL though

It doesn't matter.

An ACL is completely replaced with that of a cadaver. It's not repaired, it's replaced.

The biggest issue is rehab but as it's been proven in the past year, ACL's can be rehabbed quickly and efficiently.

Smith, while accurate at times, didn't display the same running ability, the same leadership, the same charisma, and so on. That doesn't mean he'll fail in the NFL but it does explain why so many people out there don't project him as an NFL superstar.
Have you still only watched the one game?

(Serious question, not just asking in an effort to be a dick...)

I watched the entire K-State game and the entire Pinstripe Bowl on game day, the Combine and several games on YouTube back in February.

Good.

Back when you were hammering people about him but had only watched the K-State game, it was entertaining but not very convincing...

RG3s problem is the Shannahans used the option way too much and that put their ferrari in the shop.

If I were to try to pinpoint Genos most frustrating weakness, it's that he doesn't run with the ball when he absolutely should.

There were probably 20 times, last year alone, that I yelled at the tv for Geno to take off and run with it because of the coverage and he seemingly refused to.

Geno wants to be a pocket quarterback, not a hybrid.

They can also remove a section of the Patella tendon to use as a ACL replacement. Very interesting:

If you live in Springfield, you deserve for Flopnuts, luv and I, and anybody else who lives here, to buy you several rounds for all the stuff you've talked about here.

I'm guessing you live elsewhere, but you deserve a few beers, is all I'm saying.

Here's what I see with Smith: A solid but not spectacular QB with the arm strength to make all of the throws, but at times he seems hesitant to make throws he should make. He's often inconsistent and didn't deal well with teams that could rush the passer.

Do I think he should go #1 overall? No. Do I think that he could develop into a solid NFL starter, given the "right" situation? Yes. But he's far from a finished project, unlike any of the guys taken in the past three drafts that have become solid starters (and that includes Dalton and Wilson).

I think the toughest thing about evaluating him from watching games and Youtube is that it's difficult to actually know the guy.

He's not charismatic. He does have the droopy eye thing going on. He doesn't appear to be a leader. He just doesn't look the role or act the role. I think that's a problem for a lot of NFL people.

Cadaver replacements are far less common than grafts from the hamstring or patellar tendon of the patient, especially athletes.

Barkley and Smith are opposites in many ways but if they were combines into one singular QB, you'd be looking at a slam dunk #1 overall player. As it stands, there are legitimate questions about both players.
We don't have a machine for that yet?

That's interesting. I know quite a few guys that have had ACL surgery and all have had replacements, not grafts.

A cursory Google search shows that grafts are dangerous, especially for young athletes, with graft failure at 55% for under 25 athletes.

Very interesting indeed.

I'm sure Dorsey can stare at them both, meld them together, and make a Barkley Smith.
