Copenhagen Zoo That Killed Giraffe Now Killing Healthy Lions & Cubs

Man WTF is wrong with these people.

First they kill a healthy giraffe and feed it to the lions which was disgusting.

Now they kill 4 healthy lionesses and cubs.

They said it was to make room for a new male lion that would prey on the cubs anyway.

Can't they give these lions a new home instead of 6 feet under?

I don't get it.

Maybe these assholes should not be allowed to run a zoo.

"Denmark, the land of enchanting fairy tales and liberal social values, is becoming known as the land of dead zoo animals.

The Copenhagen Zoo, which generated global outrage last month when it killed a healthy 18-month-old giraffe named Marius, said it had to euthanize four lions this week to clear the path for a newly arrived young male lion. The zoo’s decision created a backlash on social media on Wednesday, with some calling the zoo’s staff members “serial killers” and “murderers.”

The zoo justified the killings of the two parents, ages 14 and 16, and their cubs on the grounds of genetic purity and conservation, noting that the new lion would invariably prey on the cubs, while there was a risk that the older male lion would try to breed with one of the female lions that were his offspring.

Lions ate the remains of Marius, a healthy giraffe, after the Copenhagen Zoo killed him because his genes were well represented.

“If the zoo had not made the change in the pride now, then we would have risked that the old male would mate with these two females — his own offspring — and thereby give rise to inbreeding,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.

They should have given them all hugs and smiles, and all the wuvvy animals would live happily together forever.

Don't be dumb. They're not killing animals just for the **** of it. A big part of managing an ecosystem full of different animals is to control the population both through genetics and herd size. All zoos are met with such decisions, and have to cull animals all the time. Pull your PETA panties out of your vag.

Killing them in the zoo isn't all they are doing to animals over there. I was dismayed to learn that Denmark also has animal brothels. Some politician cited in an article my cousin over there sent me said he sees no reason to outlaw bestiality.

Alison on Carolla said that, unlike Marius the inbred giraffe, they couldn't find any takers on the lionesses and cubs.

Carolla quipped, THIS is really why the world misses Michael Jackson.

First off, I'm about as anti-PETA as it gets, so you're barking up the wrong tree.

Second, there are ways to save endangered and threatened animals that don't involve killing them off in zoos.

Third, if you'd read the post I was responding to, which talked about employees, you might have made a more on-point response, because I was referring to humans.

Speaking of those assholes over at PETA, are they making noise about this? Or are they still splashing the water to scare the fish away from the fishermen?
