Hey guys my boss and I did the entire marketing campaign for this film, the trailers, the TV spots, all print, etc.

There was a different ending where this precise scenario happened. Guess what? It tested terrible.

It's funny how these things are usually a "grass is always greener" feeling. An ending where they die made people feel like they went through all of it for nothing.

The general public hate downer endings. I imagine big movie studios are not inclined to spend 200 milly on a picture with a downer ending.
