It'd be nice to have it evened up for the keepers a bit for sure, but I have no idea how you'd do it in a way that would really make sense.

Ditch PKs and go with attacker-defender-keeper.

2 against 1 in that scenario is at the opposite end and the defense has the greater advantage. Perhaps a fairer version would be like hockey and have a one on one challenge with the keeper being able to come out and not stay on his line.

The way I look at it, the game's most dynamic stars get to be showcased in a crucial situation.

And I'm not totally sure that it's totally slanted to the defense as long as you mandate the keeper has to stay within the 6 yard box or something along that line.

This. Neymar and Messi reign king. Would be VERY entertaining, and would provide loads of highlights.

And if the defender fouls the offensive player or takes him out?....... [edit]Not saying it is bad idea mind you but just for discussion.

Then maybe you remove the defender?

Perhaps. If the defender takes out the attacker he gets a "yellow" card and they restart the try.

If a defender earns a second "yellow" for fouling the attacker then he gets pulled for a replacement defender.
