Headed to Vegas in a week to play Wolf Creek, Coyote Springs, and TPC Las Vegas. Anybody played any of them? Heard Wolf Creek is nice but didn't know.

I played TPC last year. Nice course. I'd stay out of the desert if I were you. I found that it impacted my score negatively.

Well the pics that Wolf Creek has been putting on their fb page I'm hoping to just shoot in the 80's haha. I'm a 2 handicap but that's on scrub course in Illinois.

I spent an hour the day before at TaylorMade golf range right down the road hitting 90 balls for most of my clubs and another 1/2 hour on the range before teeing off, both times striking the ball great. Then suddenly I get on the course and I was awful. I shot a 103 and probably would have to add another 5 shots if I had to re-tee rather then dropping where my ball disappeared. My buddy shot a 90 and he played great except a few holes on the back. He should have shot an 85. We played the Men's blended tees at 6,347 yards for a Par 71. Course conditions: Tee boxes-superb Fairways-excellent to nearly perfect. Few divots and the grass is cut pretty tight so you always have a near perfect lie. Rough-not too punishing and easy to hit out of, always green grass of 1-2 inches max. Sandtraps-Incredible consistent for everyone I was in but they have little sand in them. You get a lot of bounce after striking the ball and it's very hard to get it close on any hole if the pin is close to the trap. The sand is NOT like the beach sand on many coastal courses. Rarely did I see an un-raked or footprints in the traps. Waste bunkers- Great shape and easy to escape Greens-This would be my only minor complaint. The greens were hard as a rock and the ability to stop a ball with a low or long approach was near zero. They rolled fantastic and read 11.5 on the stimpmeter, so pretty damn fast. I had a lot of trouble with speed since I haven't played golf in nearly a year. They had some ball marks here and there but not like a $40 public course would. Overall my buddy gave the course an 8.0 out of 10 and I would have to agree. We have both played a ton of courses all over the US in Myrtle Beach, Florida, California and Phoenix-Scottsdale area, so we know a good course from a bad one. The scenery and layout are fantastic, it's a fair course if you hit it straight, and for the most part, not too long. However, the two last holes 17 and 18 were brutal, both 420+ yards par fours and after a long day, it was punishing. There are a lot of terrain and elevation changes, so you have a lot of shots that are not a flat lie. Very easy to find balls in the waste area, just be careful as the course has a lot of terrain changes so if you venture down a slope, don't twist your ankle and always bring a club to prepare for a snake. Rabbits and little prairie dogs are everywhere. We got caught on the 11th hole when a sudden vicious thunder and lighting storm came rolling through and we had to seek shelter with everyone else at a bathroom building with another 24 golfers all huddled up. The temperature dropped 20 degrees and my buddy was shivering when the rain came down. The wind was brutal and we were off the course for about 70 minutes. Getting loosened back up was hard as hell. Pro shop logo shirts stupid expensive-didn't buy at $80. I picked up 3 golf shirts on sale at Las Vegas Golf and Tennis along with TaylorMade range for $94 including a nice pair of Epoch sunglasses. The TPC Grille bar and food were excellent if not a little pricey, $177 for lunch for two people as we had about 4 wines each along with one beer plus food. Had a great enjoyable day and I would play it again.

So I went and hit balls tonight after work with my oldest son, he's 3. He's really into golf so he has a good time on the range and stuff.
On the end of the range we have a short game area with a bunker and chipping area etc, so I hit on the end and he can go up and play around up there. Fun times. |

Cool story.... New boss' mom and dad won "forever" Masters 'badges' years ago, so he'll be there Friday through Monday. I didn't know that's how it worked. And he's been going for years and told me how affordable it is once you get in.

Dustin Johnson apparently hurt himself falling down a staircase tonight. Still plans to play round 1 of the Masters tomorrow. A lot of people have been marking him as the prohibitive favorite with the way he's been playing.
