I think Bourjos needs to hit leadoff from now on.

Bourjos
carpenter
Holliday
peralta
1st baseman
Heyward / grichuk
yadi
Wong
P

I would contemplate hitting Wong 2nd and carp in the 5 or 6 hole but I dint see that happening.

I know it's early, but sitting at 6-0 with an ERA just over 2.. Wacha has to be pitching himself into Cy Young consideration.

MLB Tonight talking heads all agreed that he is currently the best pitcher in the NL.

That's ridiculous. Kershaw and Greinke, despite results, have pitched much, much better than Wacha to this point, and Cueto and Harvey have both been better as well. At best, he's in the next tier down with Shelby, as guys with nice traditional stats that have really outpitched their peripherals to this point.

Lynn has been significantly better than Wacha this year.

A lot of new saber research suggests that your best hitter should hit second, so keeping Carpenter there actually makes sense.

Also, given Bourjos' reticence to take walks (career rate of 6%), I'm leery of him hitting first. I think a free swinger is better suited to hit eighth, where he's far more likely to see strikes because the pitcher doesn't want to walk someone for the pitcher to sacrifice over.

Also, Molina should not hit 9th, or 8th for that matter. A guy with his bat control is a good candidate to hit 7th, where he can drive in runs with singles, since his power has seemingly totally evaporated. You don't want him hitting what amounts to second leadoff, where he would clog the basepaths in front of Wong and Carpenter.

Against RHP:

1) Wong
2) Carpenter
3) Holliday
4) Peralta
5) Adams
6) Heyward
7) Molina
8) Bourjos/Jay

Against LHP:

1) Wong
2) Carpenter
3) Holliday
4) Peralta
5) Reynolds
6) Molina
7) Bourjos
8) Grichuk

No way Matheny benches Hayward. Also when Jay comes off the DL, no matter how anyone is playing, Jay starts.

But, I like your lineups.

Lorenzo Cain is playing at a 7 WAR level on defense alone right now ... Heyward's defense is so valuable he is a must start even sporting a .600 OPS ... just bat him 8th if that's the case

Trying to jump start him I'd guess.

I'm curious what his babip is during this shitty streak, especially as of late. Seems to have hit into some bad luck
